Wet food help/question?? I have one 8 month old yorkie, Hunter and I just got Millie, she is 6 months. I have been feeding Hunter wellness puppy food dry food and keep it down all day. I am also doing this with Millie. She came to me eating mostly soft food and seems to have a some difficulty eating the dry food(which I do moisten). So I have been supplementing them wet food once in the morning and evening. I am having a hard time finding a wet food they seem to find really palatable and that I feel is safe for them (no recalls, issues with quality control). Can ya'll tell me which wet foods your dogs seem to really like and you feel is safe? Also, for the wet food, do you think it is really important that it is wet food or can they have the dry puppy food and with adult wet food? Thanks for any help/opinions, I really appreciate it! |
Evangers;) They can at their facilities and there have never been any recalls for them that I know of. It is also a high quality food. If you email them and request a sample they will send you a case of food with all different flavors to try. Fair warning the chicken thigh one has small bones in it and yes they are supposed to be there. |

Evangers is such a great food. And yes, at their ages - it is really fine if you give them both adult wet food at this point (often the real differences are scant anyway). Canned food is wonderful to add to dry bc it is less processed than kibble (ie 'fresher') and adds moisture too. :) |
Life's Abundance also just came out with a canned food. It is made with all human grade ingredients! Also Life's Abundance has never been on a recall list. they also make it fresh and send it to you! They have a breakfast version and a dinner version :) Here is where I have it for sale on my website: Clothes, Beds, Healthy Food, Treats,Grooming products and Dental Care for your furbaby! | Pooch Potato Beds, Life's Abundance Pet foods, Dental Care You can read the great ingredients there too! Quote:

I use Innova Evo the canned version, the dogs love love love it! I dont use it as their main food, but I use it a couple times a week. No recalls on it. |
Sorry I don't have much experiance with canned, but the Wellness Small Breed Adult has smaller pieces than their puppy food does so it is easier for them to eat. It also has almost the exact same ratios as the Wellness puppy which is designed for all breeds of puppies so you do not need to worry about her not getting all right nutrients |
I went to check out the Evanger's and then I got confused again. They had meat packed by itself (like buffalo, beef, chicken, etc...) and then they had meals (like turkey dinner, beef dinner, etc...). Do ya'll feed both types or find one is better than the other?? Thanks again for the help!! I have tried the plain innova (not evo) and they seem to like it, but it seems to upset Hunter a little bit. He throws a little up maybe every couple of days. I don't know if its too much, too rich or what. |

Personally I'm against wet foods cuz they're not the greatest thing for their teeth...dry food is much better. I say if you can avoid feeding it do so. After all, yorkies are prone to dental problems as is...no need to add to it. Just my opinion is all. |
