Desiree not eating update We went to the vet yesterday, the exam was good, she ate in the morning before we went and again mid morning and again at dinner, so of course I thought we were on the road to recovery, right? Not so. At 3 am she got up and pooped, it was okay to start but ended loose. But by 9 she had diarrhea again and by 1 pm she had leaked all over the carpet and herself four different times, it looked black and bloody and she was back to shaking and so uncomfortable. So in for another emergency visit (after the $415.00 yesterday) The vet said that she wanted to x ray because of the black stool. She thought blood in the stomach so maybe a bleeding ulcer. But thankfully, no bad stuff, just some gas and bloating showed up. We did another CBC and everything was fine also. A little elevated white count so we know she has a slight intestinal infection. She was very confident that we are still dealing with a very sensitive and emotional dog. I asked about IBS and she said I could call it that but it was really a term used for humans. Whatever, I also asked about pancreatitis again and she said Dezi would be throwing up and she's not. And she would be much sicker than she is. Metronidozol and something for stomach acid and she is resting and comfortable now ($200.00 later) :) Cassidy's spay went well and they only removed two loose molers because the rest of her big girl teeth aren't in all the way yet. She is coming around nicely and also resting comfortably. :):):):): |
I'm really sorry you're going through this - some of this is similar to what I went through with Marcel when he was a puppy. What are you feeding, btw? Have you worked with her diet? |
I really have no idea what this is and it doesn't sound exactly like pancreatitis but as far as "she would be a lot sicker than this", that isn't correct. Ellie did not act that sick when she had it... What are you feeding again? |
I would take her immediately off of everything. I would make white rice/boiled chicken, boneless breast only. I would feed her that for a day or two to see if her bowls get better and take it from there. I do hope your little one get's better soon. Poor baby to be so sick. I would then try an allergy formula like Natural Balance Duck and Potatoe and add that alittle at a time to the rice/chicken and see how that is. Don't add anything to fast. Try and narrow it down to see what may be causing this. Of course a vet check is a must. Take in stool sample as well. |
