Canidae Dog Food
 
I have been feeding my 10 year old yorkie Canidae Platnium and was recently told that they have changed there formula and that this may not be such a good food anymore. Does anyone have any suggeestions on what might be a good food to switch to?? Thanks

Natural Balance and Orijen are great foods. So is Wellness Core

I really like Artemis Fresh Mix. It's holistic with very good ingredients. You can read the review here:

The only disappointing fact about many of these good foods is that they are manufactured by Diamond Pet foods. After all the recall horror stories, this troubles me a lot. I've spoken with Artemis and they say their food is produced at a different plant than other Diamond foods and that only the "premium" foods are produced there.

I feed my dogs the Canidae and they don't like it anymore. Probably because they changed the formula. Anyone else who feed Canidae notice any difference with your dogs eating?? I have gotten samples of the Natural Balance and they seem to like that so I may change to that.

I switched to Canidae during the winter because Prarie changed (they said they added a manufacturing plant and the formula didn't change but it started making Dezi sick- she's very sensitive and I e-mailed them and blasted them and a very serious quality control person called to interviewed me) but when I saw the Canidae kibble was a different color, I thought "oh no here we go again" but she didn't get sick and didn't seem to have a different opinion. How did you hear that it changed? Why do these manufacturers do this when it's so bad for dogs to have their diets changed?

I recently took a bag of Canadie back loved it however, all my dogs had very soft stools yellow..I called the store and they took it back because rice is so expensive now they are putting in Barley which they said can cause loose bowels in dogs. They are going to stop selling it now because of the returns.

I 100% recommend Life's Abundance. It contains NO CORN, NO WHEAT, NO SOY, AND NO BY-PRODUCTS. Those are all ingredients that aren't nutritional, are known to cause allergies and are just unhealthy.

Life's Abundance is made by all human grade ingedients and has NEVER been on any re call list.

My babies love it and their poo is smaller and firm, their coats are shiny and healthy and their energy is awesome! They eat less because its not full of garbage!

OH NO!:eek: My girls LOVE Canidae!! When did they change the formula!? I just ran out and was going to pick up another bag tomorrow...I mix the Canidae with Merrick (for variety) and they LOVE it! Did they just make this change?

Hi, Kiwi has been very happy on Innova puppy. I recently switched her to Innova Adult Small Bites. Her coat is very healthy and shiny. I'm very pleased with Innova.

I have noticed a bit of difference w/ Meka. She's been picking at it and will only "throw down" on it if I include a little of their wet food w/ it....Didnt realize they changed the formula :confused:

Did you notice the color changed. My babies just pick at it and will eat it if it they get really hungry. I do mix some moist food in it, but after this bag of Canidae is gone, I will go to something else.

I have not bought I new bag yet but I will need to sometime in the next few days so I am trying to decide what will be best for him, like I said he is 10 years old but still very active and love to play. Thanks for all the feedback and hope everyone finds what they are needing food wise!!

I knew about the change in formula but had to buy another small bag to ween them off it. My babies also lost interest in the dry food so I got a few samples from the feed store and the #1 choice was Solid Gold Wee Bits!
They went nuts over this food...honestly I've never seen them go nuts over dry food before. So since I still have some Canidae dry I mix it in with the wee bits but they pick out the canidae kibbles so I'm going to stop putting it in their bowl.

I still however use their wet formula because that hasn't changed and my babies will not eat anything else.

I use the Nat. Balance Wee bites Duck/Potato and Natures Variety New Zealand Venison............but due to weight issues the larger portion of the meal is Wellness Weight Management. They all seem to like it and their stool have been great (firm and twice a day)..........as great as stools go! :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
