So itchy. Stupid fleas. Poor baby Chloes is breaking all her hair(on back of neck, top of head, and rear area) by scratching. Stupid fleas. I cant get rid of them. She's got hair breakage everywhere. I had to give her an all-over trim today. Poor girl. I wish I could make them stop biting her :( If I cant stop the fleas, I wish I could at least stop the itching. Does anyone know a good itch remedy? |
i used head and shoulders dry scalp care shampoo and conditioner and he has not itched for days. :D |

fleas You will need to bomb the house and spray the yard..I got rid of fleas for good that way. |

Thats a good idea. I only saw one flea onher yesterday and sometimes I wonder if she also has skin allergies or if its just the fleas. I bought $15 skin itch relief dog shampoo but it didnt help. I am always open to new suggestions. And I have been using frontline, I have also bombed the house and sprayed the yard. I dont even have carpet in my house so you would think that helps. I wasnt kidding when I said I cant get rid of them. Thats the whole problem. |
Take the shampoo that you bought and pour some into a small bowl, add some oatmeal and baking soda, add a little milk (I know it sounds odd.) Put it on her and work it down to the skin, you want it kinda pasty so it doesn't run off, paste it on and let it sit for about 5 min. Best way I have found when having to let things sit is to get in the bathtub with her and feed her treats, usually I make up a chicken breast and feed it to them while waiting for the time to be up. Then rinse really well and go back with a good oatmeal or tea tree oil conditioner. I had this problem with my dads westie and it worked great. After a few times like this he didn't have any problems. |

Is this just an itch relief? I mean it doesnt keep off fleas right? I still want to try it for the itch relief even though it sounds like a yucky mess. It could be fun though :p . Does your dog not try to lick it? |
Yeah it is pretty messy and they do try to lick it. Ive used it for itch relief and it helped. Works pretty good as an exfoliator on yourself too if you rub it around on yourself while in the tub waiting to rinse the dog. LOl |
My westie has the worst skin and is allergic to everythng. There are some great allergen shampoos out there and we bathe her frequently which helps alot. |
me and harley both got fleas. They were just covering him and they bit all over my ankles. my husband did not get a single bite. I had harley groomed - to get all the "stuff" off him, started fronline and had the house and yard sprayed. I think I got more bites tonight. All this was last friday. I have been giving harley some children's benedryl twice a day to stop the itching. His skin looked so red. The vet gave me the dosage based on his weight. Hope that helps and if you find out for sure how to get rid of them let me know. thanks harley's mom |
Remeber when using Frontline do not put on until at least three days after bath. After do not bath for a least three days. This is important or it is less effective. |
