poor little "porkie" Hello everyone..I'm new to this site..and need help... I have a 3 year old that I bought from a pet store...I didnt go in to buy him..but after watching him for a couple of days ..they left him in with other larger puppies :O( sold his other yorkies..I had to get him..he was so sad..spent a lot of money on vet bills..he was a mess... so..here is my problem..he eats everything..dog food cat food people food..he eats all the time and is wayyyyy over weight...he wt is 19lb the last time we went to the vet :confused: I have tried to keep him from the cat food by keeping it up...but the dog food stays down so his brother can get it when he wants it..its just the reg dog food...I don't know if he eats it because he was left with larger dogs as a puppy or if he has a thyroid problem or...if he just eats...which is what it looks like....everytime I go to the kitchen he wants something..I have tried to give him chews to keep him from eating so much..he really is very over wt..any suggestions? You can't leave the food down for your other dog. You shouldn't free feed a dog, it is better for them to have a set dinner time. Then you can portion out his food and regulate his poop schedule too. Make sure that you aren't over feeding and let him chew on natural low calorie treats like baby carrots. Pigs ears, bully sticks, etc.. have a lot of fat also. Make sure that he gets a good long walk everyday and the weight should start to come off!! Good Luck! |
