dog food does anyone know if purina puppy chow is good food |
no it isn't. THere probably isnt' a worse food than that. If you are looking for a quality food you will not find it at the grocery store or wal mart. Try brands like Wellness, Orijen, or Natural Balance. If you go on their websites you can find where to purchase them near you . |
I don't know about Purina, but I researched and found Innova to be top notch - and Maxwell has been healthy as can be! |
Dog Food WELL I DIDNT THINK PURINA PUPPY CHOW WAS ALL THAT EITHER. I ASKED MY FRIEND THIS WEEKEND WHAT SHE FEED HER DOG AND WHEN SHE TOLD ME THAT I COULDNT REALLY BELIEVE IT. ONLY BECAUSE SHE REALLY IS A PAMPERED POOCH,SO I THOUGHT MAYBE SHE KNOWS SOMETHING I DONT. GLAD TO KNOW SHE DOESNT....(HAHAHAHA) THANKS FOR REPLYS.:animal-pa |
All of the brands mentioned above are great. Another good brand is Solid Gold, and they make Just a Wee Bit, and it has tiny pieces of kibble. Baxter and Cooper ate this for quite a while (all the varieties), and it is a good solid brand. I still occassionally pick up a bag. My favorite brand is Merrick. You can order it on the web, no shipping charges. Both of these brands are grain-free, which will help with allergies. Just my .02! |
Dog Food It Is So Hard To Figure Out The Best Thing To Feed Your Puppy, everyone Has A Different Opionion. I Have Been Researching This For A Couple Of Weeks. I Got My Puppy A Month Ago And He Was 5 Months Old 1lb, When I Got Him The Breeder (puppy Mill) Sent Ground Up Eukenuba And Said Thats What He Ate,well He Sure Didnt Want It When He Got Here. He Was So Weak And So Sick The Only Thing I Could Get Him To Eat Was Chicken. So My Vet Says No More Chicken And Sent Me Home With Science Diet Can Savory Chicken Food. Well He Would Eat It If I Added A Little Cottage Cheese To It.so Now That I Am Trying To Get Him On Something That Is Nutricious And Good For Him I Cant Decide What. He Is Now A Healthy 1.10lbs And I Dont Want To Give Him Anything Thats To Strong For His Little Body,as He Was Very Very Sick When I Got Him,i Dont Want Him To Have To Go Through Anything Else Painful.so Today I Gave Him A Little Bit Of California Natural Lamb Meal And Rice Formula And I Mixed In In With His Other Food Eukanuba And He Picked Out All The Cal Natural And Ate It All.so This Is Suppose To Be A Good Food I Think The Company Innova Makes It,so Any Help Is Greatly Appreciated.:) |

Check out this site...I've found it really helpful. |

The problem with that site is that the "reviews" are written based only on the opinions of the site editors, not long term, professional research. It has alot of good information, but the decision on what to feed your dog shouldn't start and end with that site. :) As far as Purina, it's certainly not the best by YT standards. While the more recommended, high-end products may not be the best match for the dog's individual needs, I would think there would be something better that would work. |

I love Life's Abundance and now offer it for sale. I LOVE it. It was created by a vet and is VERY good for our babies! I trust this food 100% and do not feed by babies anything else :) |
well first off it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find an ingredient list on their site... first warning bell.. they don't WANT you to know what's in. I did find one set of ingredients tho. The first ingredient was meat- not "meal" which means the meat content is being weighed with its full water content. Once dehydrated to bake it would be lower on the list of ingredients. The next two ingredients are "fillers" starches that dogs dont need a lot of.. some are fine.. but they need to be high quality. Corn is also a starch in the food which is hard to digest by dogs and is usually linked to allergies (itching, watery eyes) Also listed are bi products. These are the parts of animals that are not suitable for human digestion (ie. feet, heads, legs, fur). NO dog should eat a food containing bi products. While dogs do need some sort of fat :animal fat: is too broad of a term... there is no telling where the fat is coming from and the source could honestly be ANYTHING. Lastly- they are using a synthetic form of Vitamin K which has been linked to liver issues and is now being removed from most high quality dog foods. This was for Purina Pro Plan and some info came from Dog Food Reviews (the part about the Vitamin K) |

I got my dog at a few pounds. I put him on purina One...my dog went to 9 pounds in 9 months. he's a little chubster...but he takes walks and such. He moreless likes to be outside during the day...as if he was a larger dog and didn't want to be crated all day long. |
