Dog Food? I've been feeding my dog what the breeder was feeding him, Royal Canin. I like that this company has a formula specific to breeds, although I do realize that if you look at the breeds they're the top 8 or so most popular breeds in America. Regardless, my dog likes his food more than his treats. I bought a Kong treat ball and he goes after it only when I put kibble in it. I'm curious, what brand do you feed your dog? |
I just switched Summer from Pro Plan to EVO and she loves it. EVO is all natural food and is great for her. I understand Pro Plan was like feeding her McDoanlds every day. I feel good knowing that there are no fillers in it. I have tried switching her before and she didn't do well. You might try this, it is made by Innova. |
I feed a combo of Nutro Ultra, Eukanuba, Wellness, Nature's Balance, home cooked and supplements. Each of the dogs gets a different combo ratio based on their individual needs. |
Thank goodness I only have one (for now!) I'm looking at getting another yorkie or pomeranian in a year or so. My bf wants a cat first. In the mean time. I've been feeding Mr Belvedere Royal Cainin, which he loves, strictly dry though. I've been thinking of giving him wet food as a treat, just a little since the individual packages of wet food that's made for small dogs usually requires four or five packages for nutritional needs, and there's no way a little yorkie can eat that much! |

I feed Natures Variety Raw Frozen Medallions. :) |
I feed all mine Life's Abundance. Its premium Health food for dogs and puppies. Mine are doing great on it. |
Hi! Roxy is also on Royal Canine. She is still on the mini puppy indoor formula. She has done extremely well with it. She likes her food, no tummy issues, regular solid poos....I have read about alot of different foods on here that sound really good, but at this point, Roxy is doing so well with it that I am going to stick with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" line of thought until something changes my mind! Hopeully when she makes the switch to the adult yorkie food she will do as well then as she is doing now. If not, I think from what I have read on here, my next choice would be to try Canidae. Good luck to you! |
Same here. Mr Belvedere LOVES his food, I put his kibble in treat dispensers instead of actual treats and he loves it. He's on the Puppy 33 formula. Quote:

Dog Food? Gucci was on Eukanuba when we brought him home from the breeder. PetSmart was out of the small puppy food, so I asked the vet what to feed him. Royal Canin was suggested. Within a short time he started losing his hair, not in any specific area, but all over. We were worried that we'd have a new type of hairless! I researched everywhere to find out if this was something normal of "morkie" puppies, but couldn't find anything online. Eventually I spoke with a Morkie breeder in Florida and she told me to get him off Roya Canin. He's now in Life's Abundance and doing well. His hair has come in and He's not scratching, He's now 4 months old. |
The EXACT same thing is happening to Mr Belvedere. His hair started to thin on his head and slowly down his back. The vet said not to worry about it but it's getting worse. He said it may have something to do with his food. Time to look for an alternative to Royal Canin then. Thanks! Quote:

Dog Food? We'd walk into the vet's and while they all love Gucci would ask what was going on since he was going bald! Then he started to thin on his body and his legs looked like there was no hair. He now has a full head of "silver" hair, his legs are tan and while his body is fine, at least we don't see skin anymore! Good luck. |
I've been lucky so far with the Royal Canin, not only does Jax love it but we haven't had any issues. Too bad about the hair loss. I bet that was quite a sight! ;) |

I really like it and have all my dogs on it. You can feed it both to puppies and adults. |
