Teeth at 7 Months I took this photo minutes ago with cellphone so I hope it's clear enough. Should I be concerned that Abby has 2 sets of double teeth on the bottom? None of the 4 teeth are loose - do I need any pulled right now or should I wait? The photo didn't show - I will try in another message |

It is normal. If they dont come out by a yr old you need to have them pulled. Most people just have it done when they do their spay/neuter |
If you plan on spaying her you can have the vet pull them the same day she's spayed so you only have to put her under once. I had to do that with my boy Timmy. |

I'm in the same boat as you. I had Cassi spayed at 6 months. She also had the double row of bottom canine teeth and it just fell out 2 weeks ago, when she was 7.5 months. Now, I'm waiting for her top two canines to fall out. I've been checking them on a daily basis. I'm going to give it another month or two, if they don't fall out then, I'll probably take her to vet to have them extracted. As of now, I've been brushing her teeth every 2-3 days to make sure that she doesn't have food caught in between the two teeth. |
double teeth for both yorkies Desiree had double teeth and some were in by the time she was spayed. I had to put her under a second time to get the rest out. It took them a long time to come in. Cassidy is having the same trouble, but only her top two middle teeth are doubled and she is being spayed in a week. Is it totally necessary to have them removed? I didn't have Dezi's canines removed, they fell out on their own but it took a while, they were loose so I waited. I would rather not do the anesthesia if it can be avoided. |
Thanks for all your replies. I have always been nervous about anesthesia so I will give it another few months before really worrying. Abby will actually be 7 months next Wednesday btw. See it's good to know that this is a common thing. I have only owned one other Yorkie and she didn't have the double teeth problem. Thank God for this website...as I'm learning so much!:thumbs up |
