Small Black Specks on Belly My little Pepper started scratching around her stomach/groin and biting at her tail so I checked for fleas. I saw a bunch of little black specks all over her belly in between her rib cage and her tail. They are definitely not moving, so I don't think they are fleas and they wouldn't budge with a soapy warm washcloth so it can't be dirt. They will come off with a little bit of tugging and scratching. I have no idea what these are and I just need a little bit of help. Thanks in advance. |
Maggie has the same thing. I thought they were scabs from Hot Rod possibly biting her. I don't see any "legs". I scratched a couple off and they look like scabs. I think I will take the samples to the vet tomorrow in a plastic bag to ask them. |
Sounds like flea eggs. I would try giving them a flea bath, I bet theres one in there some wheres. |

Are you sure they aren't tiny ticks??? |
Conner has a few "beauty marks" on his stomach. |
Just wondering if she could be lactating ? when Daisy went though her false PG she would leak and if I didn't get it cleaned right up she would get these spots. Can you post a picture? |
It sounds like flea dirt |
It would only sound like flea dirt if they were falling off. Flea dirt doesn't stick to the skin, at least any I've ever seen hasn't. I'd definitely take her into the vet or something, they may be possible scabs from flea bites? Better to be safe than sorry! |
It would really help if you could post a pic of it... |
Bobby has this sometimes. It does come off. The vet said that it is mostly dirt and skin irritation due to urine. When I bathe him, i wash that area really well and clean him once a day. |

little black specks on belly my jodie has this also, and the vet said that it wasn't anything, but i started using malaseb shampoo, once a week on her, and she's clearing up. she used to scratch herself like crazy, and scratch off her hair. plus her hair looked scragly. but now, between the dinovite and the malaseb shes starting to look good ' and she don't scratch anymore. thank god, what ever it was, we're getting rid of it!!!!!!! |
