Omg, I am so glad that you asked this question. I have a 5 1/2 month old yorkie with the same problem. I have had him for about 6 weeks or so now and I too, switched his food to Innova gradually like I'm supposed to and he still doesn't have firm poops. What's the deal? I will be anxious to hear what others can advise. |

When switching foods, make the transition very gradual to avoid an upset tummy as well. Those two things in combination could be causing the soft stools. |
yes, how much do you recomend? i was giving 1/2 tea spoon... do you thing thats too much? |
Are you using capsules? If so, just start with a couple of drops, and keep an eye on your baby's stools. If he does well, increase very gradually over time up to whatever dose you're trying to reach. |
What kind of shampoos and conditioners are you using? Dogs skin and hair has a different Ph than humans and the wrong shampoo could dry skin out. Joey's breeder recommended to always use a good conditioner because it conditions the skin as well as the hair. Make sure you rince throughly after shampooing, soap residue can dry out the sky. |
I would advise you to stop the oil and gradually re-start it a few drops at a time but only after you have taken your munchkin to the vet to rule out any tummy or skin problems. Something that can be used on the skin might be better at this young age, but, again, ask your vet. With these sensitive tummies they can make us nuts trying to hit a happy medium. Your baby is probally fine, though.... |
We have a similar discussion going on another forum about Wellness and soft, mucousy stools. Several people have had that problem, myself included. Lady also had blood in her stool. It cleared right up when I switched her food. Have you just started Wellness? If so, I'd suspect that is the culprit. |
