Ok, I should know better :D Bently my 4 month old is spoiled.... Ok, I admit it. now.... he loves boiled chicken and white rice...... he would eat them until he would burst..... My wife just rolls her eyes when I cook them for him. I do mix in some dry dog food and he eats it but I'm worried about giving him too much chicken and rice.... I'm feeding him about 1/4 cup in the morning and about 1/2 cup at night........ If I try just dog food he won't eat it....... If I try hand feeding him he might eat 7 or 8 pieces but then stop...... What do I do? Anyone got a time machine where I can go back and not start the chicken and rice? BTY: I cook him new chicken and rice about every 3 days and keep them in the refrig between feedings. He's also up to 6 lbs 2oz...... |
If he likes homecooked so much, why not just do it all the time? The recipe would need to be balanced though. If you want to feed dog food and homecooked, if the homecooked doesn't have supplements in it you should probably feed mostly dog food (at least 80-85%) or he won't be getting needed vitamins and minerals. Ellie eats entirely homecooked. The last time I cooked for her I made chicken, sweet potato, peas, carrots, green pepper and one other veggie that I can't think of right now. If you want to go back to dog food, you could use canned or go with kibble and mix something in like yogurt. |
Home cooking is the ONLY way to go. :D I make up 5 or 6 weeks supply and freeze. They also get scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, oatmeat, dried fruits, apples, all types of berries, yogurt cheese, goat cheese, plain non fat yogurt and i mix in some kind of berry. Carrots, steamed broccoli, fresh green beans steamed, (nothing from a can) natural peanut butter and I make their own bone treats. Then I buy the small beef femur bones for them to chew on. |
