Side effects to DHPP???? is it SLEEPINESS???// My Murphy got his DHPP vaccine this past Friday and here it is Sunday and he is still laying around. It worries me. What kind of side effects for DHPP are therre, and how long does it take to get over them... I need your advice, I love this site ...so many people to help with things when I feel lost ..THANKYOU ALL!! Katharine |
Any vomiting, diarrhea, pale gums? Lethary and tiredness is normal but he should be okay by now. If he isn't better soon, I'd call the vet. Side effects could probably include anything you could think of like vomiting, diarrhea... but long-term side effects to vaccines that aren't normally talked about could be autoimmune disease, cancer, vasculitis... Any gum color other than pink, go to the vet immediately. |
Experience This With Dhpp???? No vomiting, diarrhea, pale gums...in fact his gums always look the same ...deep pinkish. He just doesnt seem hisself to be honest. He eats and drinks, and does play abit, howevr he is laying around more then usual which concerns me. I did give him some Nutri Cal just in case and his temp is normal. I hate these vaccines, he was perky and happy before I took him to the vet, and now he just seems to sleep or seems tired. I will call the vet tomorrow and see what he saids ... Same here. I took Oliver to the vet yesterday and he started to act funny last night. He's been shaking off and on and just laying around all day. He is normally very hyper and independent but now he is staying so close to me and being more cuddly than normal. Plus, if you touch the spot they gave him his shot he yelps. Is this normal? :( I am very worried about my little guy. Please help. Thanks. -kel |
The pups that we raise always have had an adverse response to those DHPP vacines. There's one thing in the combination that the vet thought they might be reacting to, so he noted it on our female's record. But the last time I had pups in and mentioned it to the vet, he(not same one, but same clinic) got all huffy and insulted me. I don't think these puppies had the same reaction though....different male dog fathered them. |

Side effects to DHPP My two Yorkie boys got their DHPP and Lime shots last night. Shy was not himself immediately after, wouldn't eat dinner, was lethargic, etc. Bailey was fine, until this morning. He didn't come down from the bedroom with me this morning (is constantly on my heels), wouldn't eat a treat before I left for work, etc. When I came home, Shy is back to his old happy boisterous self, and Bailey is still hiding in the bed. He acts afraid of me, and it's terrifying. I read on answers.com that Benadryl should help, so I gave him Children's Benadryl and we'll see if it helps. If it doesn't change anything within the hour, it's off to the emergency clinic. Anyone have any suggestions? |

They are much better, thank you! Bailey was at least eating out of my hand about an hour after the Benadryl dosage, and Shy was back to normal Friday night. It was about mid-day on Saturday until Bailey was totally himself. Very scary, and Monday the vet is getting a call with instructions to not give this vaccine again. |
My Bella just got the DHPP today after the shot 10 mins, she collaped and closed her eyes, couldnt stand. I knew immediately there was something wrong. I took her back to the vet. Good thing we didnt leave the clinic. The Vet gave her anti histamine(guessing benadryl), and cortizore. She seem abit better after 10-15 mins. Then the vet asked to observe her symptom. Hopefully she will be ok. |
Murphy - DHPP My boys got their DHPP and Lyme together and both had terrible reactions. I ended up giving the one some children's Benadryl, and that seemed to be a great remedy. I don't know if I would call the reaction "sleepiness", but my didn't do anything, including eating. There was no vomiting or diarrhea, but they didn't feel well at all. In talking with my vet afterward, they have now marked the charts that they don't receive the DHPP anymore ... they are 7 and 9 years old and the previous years of vaccines have more than safeguarded them in his mind. They'll only get Lyme and Rabies anymore. Hope this helps and that Murphy is feeling better soon!:) |
