My little pig So, recently I switched Lilly's food to Wellness Small Breed formula and I'm assuming she loves it. I had problems with her eating her old food, I could put food in the bowl and it would sit for a few days and then I'd dump it out and pour more, all she would do was nit-pick at it. Now when I pour the Wellness out, it's gone usually before the day's over with. Like we just woke up and she cleaned out her food from when I put food in it last night before bed. It was taking her like a little over a day to finish what was in her bowl but I had the old food mixed with the Wellness. Last night when I poured her some more, I just poured the Wellness as her poop has been fine. So here's my question, should I be feeding her a certain amount? I don't want her to get overweight. Anything that I should change? I'm really looking for any suggestions or opinions from everyone on what they think I should do. |
Well, YAY - she is lovin' the new food! That is great - it's always wonderful when the babies enjoy eating. On the bag, there should be a feeding guide to help with amounts. So, you could put down an amount, for example - a half day's worth - and see how quickly she eats that. If she eats it right away - then you may not be able to free feed her (at least not at first); you may have to feed her at meals. :) |

You're such a great help with this food stuff Ann, I really appreciate it! |

I do know of others who have just continued to free feed through the "piglet" phase - knowing their dog will grow out of it, once they get through the excitement of the new food - so that's an option too. So, you could "wing it" too....:)...and just keep an eye on her weight. |
