Skinny puppy I think my Jamsine is too thin. She is 4months old (Aug.4th) and weighs exactly 4lbs. she is kinda long 10inches from the back of her neck to the end of her back. She would not sit still long enough for me to measure from head to tail. My husband is home during the day so she plays outside quite a bit. I think she would be a little bigger if she didn't run around the yard at 100 miles per hour all day. She eats pretty good (about 1/4-1/2 cup per day), I hate to say it but she eats Puppy Chow. I'm looking for a better dog food, but they say to introduce new dog food slowly. Her breeder had her on Puppy Chow so I kept her on it. She does eat other things, watermelon, strawberries, carrots and she absolutely adores Luck Charms ( I don't give her the marshmellows, I eat those myself) I also give her cooked ground turkey occasionaly. Do you think I should give her some type of supplement or vitamins? |
diet It sounds like she is eating alot of food...I am not much for Puppy Chow..but if you change to a higher quality dry, do it slowly and mix it with the puppy chow for a couple weeks. She will no doubt fill out as she gets older..and spayed. |
I'll bet she will fill out, too. Mine always did! :D She's young and very active. She runs it off now, but that won't always be the case. :) |
Magic was so skinny when she was younger...we thought she would break at anytime...and it wasn't that she didn't eat because she loves to eat...she is just tall and long and just skinny...but now she is started to fill out (I noticed the other day) since she was spayed and has grown up...giver her time, she should get bigger, just make sure is eating a food with lots of good nutrition and she should be fine!! |
That doesnt seem too skinny to me.. My 6 month old male is about 7 or 8 inches long and very very thin.. he weighs 3 lbs... he is longer legged yorkie so he looks sooooo skinny... I posted another thread about switching food... |
That isn't too skinny. My Chloe is 5 months old, 9 inches long and 3 lbs, 2 oz. She isn't too skinny and she eats very well, and she eats Royal Canin. |
