Has anyone had this ear problem! what could it be? help please Hello! My little girl Fergie has had an ear problem for a few days now! it started off smelling very bad...and she found it sore if by mistake I rubbbed by her ear. Also it looks dry and bumpy on the inside of the ear now, it looks like dry little scabby dots in her ear. Does anyone know what this is?? |

Have you taken her to the vet? If no, I would do that as soon as possible. She might have a bad ear infection or maybe a foreign object in there. BTW, Welcome to YT! |

She really needs to see a vet. The bad smell would indicate infection but scabbing could indicate mites. Has she been scratching it? |

Sounds like a ear infection...maybe yeast. She does need to see the vet for a prescription. And if you're not already doing so, put cotton in her ears while you bath her, as water is usually the reason. |

she doesnt scratch it very much ...she does shake her head a bit once and a while.. |

I would definitely take her to the vet. The fact that it looks dry and bumpy and has scabby dots on the inside, coupled with the fact that it's sore probably means it's something more than just "swimmer's ear" or something like that. Ear infections are common in dogs with hair growing on the inside of their ears. I noticed an odor in Bella's ears a few weeks ago and noticed that she would rub at them with her paws, but they looked clean and pink (hairy, but otherwise good) on the inside. I took her in anyway and the vet checked her over. Everything was fine, but he said she may be getting swimmer's ear from bathing. He recommended cleaning her ears with Vet Solutions ear cleansing solution after every bath, and that seems to have done the trick for her (plus it smells nice and is pretty inexpensive). It sounds to me like whatever is going on with your pups ears, some kind of medicine will probably need to be involved to treat it. |
