New here and in need for help. Please! Hi, my name is Mona and I have a 13 weeks old Yorkie. He is my families bundle of joy :luvu::littleang My husband and I picked him up from the airport on Saturday . A couple of hrs later we noticed he was coughing some white slimy liquid (like humans do when they have a flu) and breathing heavily. I got extremely worried and on Monday we took him to the vet. Doc said he has laryngitis and prescribed for him medication. We give him the medication as directed. I hope it works, last night and this morning he still coughed and cried a little bit. My baby has a follow up with the vet in two weeks and I just want to know until then how can I comfort him? What can I do to help him more? Any advice is highly appreciated. Thank you for reading! |

If the med's are not working in a couple of days I would not hesitate to call the vet back. Follow your instinct. Kennel cough I have heard of but larangitis in a dog I have not. I will bump this up for you in hopes someone with experience in this can assist you. Good luck and congratulations on you little guy. |
Welcome and sorry your baby is sick. It sounds like kennel cough which is not that uncommon in puppies. As long as he is on an antibiotic to prevent it from turning into a bacterial infection it is like a cold and has to run it's course. It can take weeks or longer. I would watch to make sure he doesn't get worse. If he does have the vet recheck. Hope he feels better soon |
He might have done a lot of whining or barking on the plane. Probably not much you can do for it. Call the vet sooner if you are worried. |
Thank you for answering! I appreciate it. The doc prescribed him Clavamox drops (amoxicillin trihydrate/clavulanate potassium). We have to give it to him twice a day by mouth. I hope it will help my baby soon. Breaks my heart to see him like this - he is just an innocent puppy. If I feel the medication isn't helping him I'll take him to the vet asap. |
