Best product for a shinner coat? I was wondering waht you all use for your yorkie's hair to be more shiny. I went to Pet's Best and they offered me a product called "Solid Gold Seameal". This is a mineral and vitamin supplement in powder form that I am to sprinkle over her food. Supposedly, it will help her coat become more shiny by 16 weeks. I'm only on day 2... so I obviously won't be seeing results yet. Oh, I also comb Luna's hair very often! I'm sure that must help since it keeps mats away! What do you all use? |
Right now I use Petsilk. Schatzie's coat to me is not great at all. More so fuzzy than silky. A breeder friend of mine said that a friend of hers who shows her dogs uses Human shampoo "Thermasilk". I got some and have used it probably 8 times now and have seen no improvement. I have this stuff called Liquid Silk from Pet Silk but to me just leaves her greasy looking. She is already stringy looking so adding anymore "oil" stuff just made her gross. I sure wish I could find some magic formula out there that makes her hair hang like glass, just like the photo's in Yorkie books. But, maybe this is too much to ask. When I had Half-Pint, her coat was gorgeous. She passed away though so I will never know how her mature coat would have been. Schatzie, oh poor thing I have pity on her hair. She looks great for two days after a bath then it all goes down hill. I too brush her out everyday, sometimes twice depending on our schedule. But even after brushing it takes only a small puff of air to hit her and she's a mess again. I almost laugh about it now. |
LOL! Yes Luna too gets really messy after a bath and bring combed if we let her ...be herself, which we oviously do! :P So, like you said any puff of air messes her hair up too. I will definately let you know how this product goes. At Pet's Best they told me that what the eat affects their coat a lot. So perhaps that is where we're not investigating enough and trying hair products instead of changing their diet. Since I'm going to try this supplement, I will repost in 16 weeks and let you know how it goes! I love Pet's Best, anyone else go their? They only sell natural food, etc. |
I just asked this to a memeber that posts on hear (I cant remember the screen name). Her Yorkies hair looks so beautiful. She said she uses Vellus shampoo, conditioner and the spray. I just ordered the shampoo (I could not get all three :)) its a little pricey. So mabie in another couple of weeks ill get the conditioner and spray. But after seeing her Yorkies picture it would be worth it if my dog could look like that :) . http://vellus.com/catalog/index.html |
