Permanent Teeth Coming in behind Baby Teeth what shoul i do? Permanent Teeth Coming in behind Baby Teeth what should i do? |
Youll have to get the baby teeth pulled. Mine got it done when they werre spayed/neutered |
This is normal for many yorkies. Both of mine had to have most of their baby teeth removed (between 13-15 teeth each). It is very important to talk with your vet and have the baby teeth removed before they become a health concern. Both of mine got their baby teeth removed while under anesthesia for their neuter, between 8 months and 1 year old. -If the teeth aren't removed, dangerous bacteria can accumulate in the mouth and even become deadly. Yorkies dental care is very important, so I would recommend having your vet come up with a dental care plan. My two yorkies get yearly teeth cleanings, because they accumulate tartar very quickly. If they aren't cleaned, they can lose their teeth and become very sick. But every dog is different and accumulates tartar buildup at different rates. Preventative care is also very important, ie brushing their teeth at home and providing the right dental chews. Good Luck and Welcome to Yorkie Talk!! |
We also want these little ones to go under anesthesia as little as possible, so most vets combine the tooth removal with a spay/neuter. Do you plan on doing that? In the meantime, encourage chew toys. Gizmo lost quite a few between the time we scheduled the surgery and he actually had it. |
Bailey had some puppy teeth pulled when she was spayed also. If she were human she would get braces for her crooked teeth on the bottom. Her fangs are a little crooked also. I think it gives her "character" LOL. If I ever had to identify her there would be no problem due to her teeth.:p |
We had Kirby's baby teeth pulled at 6 mos when he was neutered. However last week he had sore mouth and we discovered it was because one of the baby teeth was left in. The tooth grew in alongside the adult tooth causing inflamation and infection. He had it extracted. He has a few more days of his antibiotics to go. |
