Pet Insurance? Do any of you have pet insurance for your yorkie? And if so, what insurance is the best. I'm thinking of getting it but not sure which one. |
I have a trial of akc offered insurance it is kind of expensive, I am going to try the Pet Insurance for Cats and Dogs - ASPCA Pet Health Insurance I think. |
I saw a really good report on Dateline (I think it was Dateline) about Pet Insurance. They said the bottom line was this: if you could afford a worse case scenario (for example, a 5k surgery), then don't get insurance. If a 5k surgery would devastate your family - then get insurance. When I was doing research - I only found ONE that did cover congenital issues (as long as you GOT the insurance BEFORE the health issue was discovered) and it was PetPlan. |
I don't know if anybody ever checks back on these threads but I just wanted to let everyone know that I ended up getting Pet Insurance for Leah. I ended up with Pet Plan. The reason I chose them was because they cover everything, along with congenital issues and they have long term chronic care. Hopefully, they will never have to use it. I'm figuring the kids (daughter & boyfriend) couldn't afford to pay high vet bills, but could afford to put it on a credit card and pay it back after the deductiable, coinsurance, etc.. I'll feel alot better knowing that we took every precaution to keep Leah safe & healthy! |
I am thinking of pet plan as well |
I have a pet insurance plan through banfield/pet smart for my yorkies. for the 20 dollars a month i pay, all visits (an unlimited amount) and annual shots are free, plus you get a discount on all surgeries and medicines. for 25 dollars a month, it includes all mentioned plus certain surgeries and medicines are free. I know there's more that you get in the plans but that's all i know of. Also, I know that when my dog got a C-section/spay, we saved nearly 600 dollars for having the 20 dollar plan so i'm assuming it would have been free if we had the 25 dollar plan, however, we didn't know about the 25 dollar plan at the time. |
