"Premium" or just a buncha smoke?
 
By looking at the first 3 ingredients...they don't look much different than most of the other foods I've seen. Eagle Pack even has that devil corn in it... Is this all just a bunch of hooey or what? Wellness has "natural chicken flavor"...that's the only mention of meat I saw in those ingredients.

First 3 Ingredients of:

Wellness: Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a natural source of Vitamin E), Ground Brown Rice, Tomato Pomace

Solid Gold Hundchen Flocken Puppy Food: Lamb, Lamb Meal, Millet

Eagle Pack: Chicken meal, Ground Yellow Corn, Rice Flour

Natural Balance Small Bites: Chicken, Brown Rice, Lamb Meal

Hmmmmm, looking at those ingredients, I personally would go with either the Solid Gold of the Natural Balance....

I am not sure which Wellness you are looking at but my bags say.
Small Breed Adult Wellness-Deboned Turkey, Chicken Meal, Salmon Meal, Oatmeal, Ground Brown Rice, Ground Barley, Rye Flour, Chicken Fat
Wellness Puppy-Deboned Chicken, Chicken Meal, Oatmeal, Ground Barley, Salmon Meal (a natural source of DHA - Docosahexaenoic Acid), Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a natural source of Vitamin E), Ground Brown Rice, Tomato Pomace

The first three are important because they are such a high percentage of the food makeup. If you check out dogfoodanalysis.com it will give you some very good info on ingrediants.

I was going by the ingredients list onlinef for the Wellness Puppy Super5Mix. That's all they listed. Weird... :confused: Checking out dogfoodanalysis.com

If using dogfoodanalysis.com, go for the 5 star foods- the 6 star foods are extremely high in protein and for dogs that are not working, can be detrimental to their health.

It's pretty good, huh? You just have to be careful and take it with a bit of salt as there is no veterinary research behind it and it makes people think their pets needs super high protein. I love it though as it is a way to seperate the different foods and their ingredients- easier than going back and forth between the different food websites. What have you decided?

I just got back from Petco with some Wellness for Puppy. I seriously hope it gets rid of Chewie's itchies and this is the LAST brand of food we have to buy for a looooong time :p
