ORIJEN- Adult formula-good poo??????
 
I started Zoeybear and Baby Chloe on Orijen dry adult formula today. It is grain free. It had a 6 star rating on the analysis site. I am really into poo because my dogs both go inside on a pee pad. This makes poo a major big deal at my house. They are on home cooking right now, and they only go 2X a day and it is firm and not smelly. I will have to wait to see some poos to know if it is going to work for us. They LOVED it and gobbled it right up. Cross your fingers for the good poo!!! :D

Mine were on it for a bag or two and we didn't have any issues. They go outside but I pick it up so I do get to inspect it. (There wasn't anything wrong with it we change food all the time...)

Layla has been on Orijen 6 Fish for a year and a half, and she only poops once a day now. It's firm and usually not smelly (I think the smell mostly depends on treats she's been getting!). She's pee pad trained too so I understand your concern!

Both girls pood 2X today by 1100 AM. Usually we would only have 1. It was a bit on the soft side too. Hoping it is just the transition. How long do you think it will take for them to get used to it? It would be nice if I could replace their morning meal with this dry Orijen and still home cook for their dinner, but that might cause more poo problems. I may be a bad mommy but, Im so tired of cooking.

Glad I'm not the only one into poo...lol

I have 3 furkids and all 3 are pad trained and because I'm the poop inspector I always know who's poop is who's....lol I know call me weird but I do inspect their poop cause ya never know. If you see the thread started a long time again thats titled "what the weirdest thing you dog has ever poop" Well that was inspired by my baby Timmy....he pooped a screw:eek: so this is why I am now the "Poop Inspector":D

Now 3:30 pm and both dogs have diarrhea. This is the third poo today and they have not even eaten dinner. Should I give it up or do you guys think they will adapt? I can't have the only two dogs in the world who can't eat any damn dog food! Waaaaah!

Oh no! Did you do a hard switch? That might be why. I'd give them some pumpkin right away. You can give Immodium - 1/2 mg or 1 ml. Pepto even helps w/ diarrhea - 1/2 tsp or 1 ml or so. Probably feed pumpkin w/ the kibble for a good week...

I feel horrible. I am a terrible Mommy. I was just so tired of cooking and was looking for an easier way. Im going to try 1/2 and 1/2 with the old food for a week or so. I don't know why I didn't realize I shouldn't just do it all at once.

Oh, don't beat yourself up! You are NOT a terrible Mommy!!!! Not at all! Maybe stop the kibble for 24 hours (if you think) and go back to what you were feeding. Then, add kibble to their homecooked meals - along w/ some fiber (either pumpkin or benefiber).

I have benefiber. I think I would have more luck getting them to eat that than pumpkin. How much should I sprinkle on.

All it takes is a pinch. Benefiber is so much easier than pumpkin bc it mixes into anything and is tasteless. So, literally - just grab a pinch btwn your fingers and put it in. Benefiber (just to reassure you) is also what Marcel's former nutritionist recommends for fiber for dogs (if pumpkin doesn't work or if pumpkin adds too much volume). :)
