I'll do some searching for more info about the vaccine, Thanks for all your help :) |
My pup just got rabies shot at 4 months...I've read this thread too late :( I just read before it should be given at 4 months. What's the connection of the rabies vaccine to the puppy's teeth which makes her ready for the shot? What harm can possible happen to my baby?:( |

It isn't something you can get around because it is required by law. Most dogs do fine though. Then there are long-term side effects from vaccines which could possibly include autoimmune disease, cancer, allergies, thyroid issues, liver issues... Some states require it be given at four months and not all vets will sign a waiver because they think it is fine. Just give it as late as possible. |

Please be aware that even if your state does allow a vet's waiver, if your dog is exposed to rabies or bites someone he will still have to be quarantined. It's important to weigh the risks. Lady can't get rabies anymore (she's thirteen) because of all her health issues. She nearly died from the last one. I don't take her for walks anymore so her risk of exposure is low. She is only allowed out on my patio and her walks are limited to the stroller now. |
