Is she getting enough food I think Millie is about 3lb 7 at 18 weeks (very hard to get her to stand still ono the scales!). If we are going with 2-3% of her weight for a raw diet, that would be about 1.6oz per day. At the minute I am giving her minced beef, 1oz twice per day, which is over the recommended amount. But she has it ate in less than a minute. Do you think she is getting enough. She was never really very keen on kibble. She just picked at it (I left it out all day), but the meat she just gulfs down. I still leave down the kibble, and she will still eat at it a bit, and then other times refuses it from my hand, which makes me think if she is eating it, she must be hungry. What to you think? |
She should be getting enough. But, when something tastes really good to dogs - they often don't really want to stop eating it, lol. Have you been in touch w/ RawFedyorkieluv at all? She might have some advice for you. :) |
I have decided to cut out the meat for a while. She vomitted up the mince straight after eating it about 3 days ago. Yesterday I gave her a bit of bacon (which I now realise wasnt the best thing to give her), and she threw it up straight away, and she threw up again this morning. Her stomach is enlarged and hard - I think she is eating too much, and eating it too quickly. Going back to the kibble for a while. |
I think it's probably the approach that was making your baby sick. It's probably best to feed either pre-made raw (which has some balance and contain bones) or go prey model. But feeding straight meat - esp. bacon, which is REALLY high in fat, is probably quite tough on your baby's tummy. But, if you want to give it another shot - there are lots of folks who can help you out here. :) |
