We have fleas????? Can I dip my 9 month old Yorkie in Lindane? I've been using Frontline! |
I have also been using frontline for my 3 month old. He has fleas, but when I ask my vet about trying something else he tells me I should stick with the frontline. But the little guy scratches all the time and i feel so bad for him! |
I am having the same problem. Ever hear of frontline resistent fleas? Well that's what they said. I am using Advantage and after the fourth application (four months) I think it might be working. DH finally cut the grass also which helps. We are going to put out some flea killer in the grass. None of my other animals are having this problem, just Rambeau. Melissa |
I would not dip along with the frontline, it might be too much for him. I would suggest bathing in dawn dish soap. I've done it so I know it works. You have to rinse and rinse and rinse cause it's not easy to rinse out, but it does work. And then maybe switch from Frontline to one of the other flea treatments. there is a new one out now. I'll try to find it. |

FLEAS SUCK :( |
I bathed Rambeau in Dawn and it killed the fleas as well as my flea shampoo but they came right back. It kills them but it does not keep them away. |

Yes it will not prevent them, it will just get rid of those that are on them. But I used Dawn on my pregnant female and treated the rest of the dogs witht Frontline Plus and she did not get them back because I treated the other dogs. |
I honestly can't remember which one we use... Frontline or Advantage.... because the cats are on the other one so I can't remember which is which and I'm not at home to look. BUT we are now also using Comfortix. It's a pill that you give once a month and can be given along with whichever flea/heartworm pill you give. You just give it 2 weeks after the other pill. We have had no problems since and believe me, the fleas are CRAZY in our area this summer. We have stopped using the topical one you put on their neck.... just the heartworm/flea pill plus the Comfortix. Good luck! But sorry, I've never used a dip so I can't comment on that question. |
I am not to sure if this will help but when Sal had them we were advised by his vet to use BIO SPOT. She said that Frontline was not working as well as it used to. I found it at Pet smart. It seems to work he does not have fleas anymore. Good luck |
Eucalyptus Oil Somewhere on this site I read about using 100% Eucalyptus Oil ....I mix several drops in Widgets shampoo, which is Mane and Tail....we travel the N. and S. Western states and I haven't had a flea on her in 2 years :D...so guess it works, and its natural...plus she smells great....;) |
I would use anything natural. I also have used Dawn and other natural products. I will never put chemicals on mine again. If you could see what it did to Mandy no one would use Frontline. I know everyone is different and has different opionions and I am sure not trying to push mine on anyone but I am literally scared to death of some of that stuff. Good luck and hope you find something that works for your baby. |
Borax After youhave treated the dogs-TREAT the house. Use Borax (it's in the laundry isle). Sprinkle in the carpets leave down for a few hours and vacuum. Make sure you get under stuff-the babies LOVE the dark. I have used this once a month (during flea season) and I have not had a problem since. I used to bomb the house and that was a waste of a lot of money. Borax runs about $3-4 and does the trick. I have read that you can also use in the yard!!! I have not tried that yet. Google it.... |
I only use Advantage as my Mandy is allergic to fleas and will chew the hair off where they bite and get a rash that will spread. For me I put on Advantage every three weeks on her and every 6 weeks on the others. I don't have a flea problem if I stick to that. I ran out of Advantage and Mandy hadn't had an application in 5 weeks and low and behold she chewed a patch of hair off her back. She is on Clavamox now and will hopefully grow the hair back soon. I feel like I let her down. I don't know how I forgot to order it before but I won't do that to my poor girl again...:(:( |
Thanks Jeri. I\'m having the same problem with Piper. He seems to be allergic to the bites and eats his hair off. I\'ll try the advantage more often and see if that helps. |
