Oh, Nancy - I didn't even notice your extra questions about Menadione - I will see what I can find... From an ooooold search - if memory serves, it was even used in diesel fuel and was listed w/ OSHA as such (I don't know why I thought of that one in particular). Also, I remember reading it was being considered as a chemo agent - I can't recall in what form, but it made me wonder again at how toxic it may be. I will do some searching after dinner....:) I do know many of the proponents of menadione are those who sell, you guessed it, rather poor quality kibbles.... |

Oh, don't trouble yourself, I'm still researching canine nutrition, and I'm not happy with the proof people have offered suggesting one way is superior. I've been reading different forums, and certain links are always used as references, but I'm not sure why these links are considered legitimate. My background is in research and I'm a stickler for facts. Teachers have always hated me. :D |

THANKS!!!!!! |
I know! I saw this in a magazine that I bought last week and I was going to post about it but kept forgetting. Seeing it in the magazine was the first I heard about it. I haven't looked at the ingredients or anything and I had no idea that it was going to be sold at Wal-Mart. GEEZ....that says enough right there  :thumbdown |

THANKS!! I am new to all this food stuff. I fed my other dog Iams for years and she seemed fine but I guess Yorkies are little different when it comes to dog food. Do you home cook now for your Yorkies? I am glad to hear you say that "Rachael Ray is one step above Purina" anyhow!! Does it hurt them to keep changing their dog food or should you keep them on one certain kind? She really doesn't eat her Canidae as well as the Rachael Ray one but I know the Canidae is best for her. She is 5 months old and probably is close to 3lb. She goes to the vet today for her rabie shot. Thanks for helping me!! |
Yorkies are not necessarily different. And dogs can live long lives on less than ideal foods - but it may effect their quality of life. I know for one, my Bichons suffered with allergies - but I didn't realize it was food allergies - but now I'm sure they were allergic to corn that was in the food I fed. There is so much good information right here on YT about food and home cooking. This is also a decent website Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble -- you have to remember it is one person's opinion - but the best thing is all the ingredients of the different foods are listed. Thanks to the internet and a number of good books on nutrition for pets you can really educate yourself |
Innova even has some tomato in it but it must be such a small amt that it doesn't cause a problem for most. I fed Crystal 'solid gold' when I could get it and 'wellness' when I couldn't and that does have a sm. of tomato but never seemed to upset her at all. Rachael is trying to reach the people who never read labels and just look at her face on the package without asking themselves "Rachael what do you know about dogs" |
