My yorkie is 3.6 punds and pregnant I think my Yorkie is pregnant. she is only 3.6 pounds at 1 year. Will I need to schedule a c-section for her? The boy that is also mine is 3.8 pounds and is 8 months old. This is the first time for me to oversee a pregnant dog. What should I expect and what should I ask my vet? |
Honestly, I have never agreed with the advice I am about to give you.. but honey, at 3.6 pounds and with you not having experience, I would seriously ask my vet for his opinion on having her spayed before she is any further along. She really is way too tiny to safely have puppies even for an experienced breeder. I hope you don't think I am being rude, because that really ism't my intension. I seriously would be worried about your girl being way too small to have babies. All of the vets I have ever had experience with never "schedule" a c-section. They wait until the girl is in labor and see if she can deliver.. if she can't and you recognise the signs that she can't in time, then they will do a c-section. and that is where the problem is.. recognising when to call the vet. |
If she were my dog, I'd have her spayed ASAP. She's way too small to risk having a litter of puppies. |
:aimeeyorkI have to agree with the others. My Delilah is 3 pounds and I can't imagine her having a litter of puppies. I considered breeding her, however changed my mind because of her size. To me it isn't worth the risk of losing her. Delilah is eight months old.:( |
I would get your vets expert advice on how to proceed on this matter.... |
I would seriously consider having her spayed. That is just way too small to have pups and if this is her first heat she is way too young also.:( Please talk to a vet with experience in small breeds about spaying her to see if they would go that route. |
I would have her spayed as well. For the reasons already stated. |
