Shaky Pup? Hi Everyone, Just a quick question. We got our Molly a week ago and she has already stolen our hearts! She is doing great and she had her first vet visit with us this week. The vet said she is a fine and healthy pup. My only question is sometimes when she is sleeping or laying down she will start shaking. Do all pups do this? I haven't had a small breed dog before so I am just wondering if it is normal. She doesn't appear to be afraid or cold either. She eats every meal and is doing great with housebreaking. Thanks everyone, for your help, in advance. Kristina |
You may not be chilly, but she may. Is your a/c on? Yorkies are very sensitive to cool temperatures...especially puppies. You may want to get her a t shirt for her to wear. Good luck and we'd love to see her picture! |
Thanks! I am gonna hit the pet store on my break from work today and pick her up something cute. Maybe that will make her feel better. Thanks for your help! |
and maybe she's dreaming? |
How old is she? If it between meals and she is very small she may be dropping her blood sugar and need to have some Nutracal on hand. Or she as said before be chilly or possibly have a nervous system that has not quite matured yet. |
She's 13 weeks. She eats wonderfully and naps a ton but this is the first time she has been shaking. I will keep an eye on her more but thanks for all the suggestions. I am sure its fine, the vet said she was in tip top shape. I just wanted to see if any one else had a little shaky pup sometimes. |
Have you ruled out hypoglycemia? Sometimes small puppies may need a bit of nutrical if they aren't eating as much as they should. This can make them a bit shakey also. You can buy nutrical at Petsmart. It is really a great thing to keep on hand. You can also give a bit of Karo syrup if you don't have nutrical. Just put a little on your finger and let her lick it. Good Luck! Hope everything goes well with your new puppy! ....... and Welcome to YT! :) |
LOL........looks like someone was thinking the same thing as I was typing!!! :D ..... **not trying to alarm you, we have had to use nutrical when Seymour was really small. I am sure there are others here on YT who also have used it. |
