What toys are good for teething Still waiting on my little one but I am stocking the house up with things for his arrival. I really want to know what toys are safe for a teething puppy. I know that some things break off and can cause them to choke so I want to avoid that at all costs. Any info would be great, TIA |
Petsmart has a great selection of toys designed especially for the babies. Even found one that I could put in the freezer so it would be cold. Just be prepared to have your heart break if yours whines pitifully like my Gracie did. :cry8: She walked around the house with her Ducky in her mouth just whining for hours. It broke my heart to know she was hurting and she didn't understanding why. But I knew is would pass and she was extra cuddly during that time. |

awww poor baby, I lucked out with my golden she teethed very quickly and was just bitey. Thanks for the info! |
Get a puppy Kong! It will your best friend :p My guys went nuts over them, and they're pretty hard to detroy. We've filled it with just about eveything, but their favorite was yogurt & bananas. We filled the kongs and then put them in the freezer. |
Bullysticks were our best friend. |

Great Advice That post number #4 is awesome, especially in the summer. I too love Petsmarts variety. The kong is great, and also Bully sticks. My bigest thing is the dinosaur breath ....I even tried getting Aiden to eat parsley. LOL |
I got this great teething toy, it's a like a keyring with keys on it. They're for teething. Tila loves! She just sits there and chews it. It has saved us from being bitten on the feet and hands. One of the best toys I got her. |
Baby carrots and ice cubes! |

I know lots of people recommend baby carrots, but this would scare me. It's very easy to choke on a carrot, and because it doesn't dissolve it has to be surgically removed. Some people have suggested microwaving the carrots so that they are soft and flexible, but I suppose that would negate the chewing satisfaction. I am a huge fan of bully sticks, and rubber teething rings. Quote:

Ice cubes are great! Gizmo loved them and it's fun to watch him. My little hockey star! lol :D Also, they love to chew on washcloths, so frozen washcloths were winners for us! We also bought this toy from Barkaholics (YT member Erin) that had a space in the middle and was blocked on one end. It's like a Kong, but you can freeze water or chicken broth in the middle. |
I kept reading how great the puppy kongs are but Pepper won't even touch it. I don't think he likes what it is made out of. |

Lol, this is one of the first things I bought since so many people said that their dogs loved them, Joey doesn't like it either, and I've filled it with all sorts of things. You never know, with these little guys. |
