Car Sick Oh my gosh, we just took Daisy for a ride and she got so car sick. She is almost 4 months and weighs about 2.4 lbs. She hadn't eaten much this morning but I did give her some NutaCal. Poor little thing seemed to be so freaked out at every noise. I won't be taking her alot but she does need to get used to things outside the house. What if anything can be done about car sickness. And the other thing is, how do you get them used to outside noises and such if they get so sick in the car you can't take them?? Now she is just laying around and acts tired. She did drink a bit of water when we got home. Anything special I need to watch for. I swear this is worse than having kids!!! |
Little outings to get her used to things will help. Reasure her constantly. Good luck   |
I've read that if they can see out of the window the whole time, that might alleviate carsickness. We've always used a dog car seat and mine have never been carsick. Not sure if it's just good luck or the seat! |
My dog Jewels gets car sick. I keep one window unrolled a little so she gets fresh air. The only thing I can recommend is taking short trips to get her more used to car rides. |
I would agree to start with very short trips and make sure that she can see out the windows...our girls have never had any problems but the first couple of times we went out they were not so sure about the car and stuff but now the love going "bye bye in the car"...I have also heard that ginger snaps work if you give them one before you take them in the car, I have never tried it but I know people who have and it helps!! |
And I shoudn't be worried that she seems so 'tired' now? |
It depends on how tired she is. That can be a sign of hypoglycemia but there are other signs such as being unsteady and such. I always give Jewels a little bit of nutrical after a trip since she gets sick. |
I did give her some nutra cal and got her to drink some water with a little Karo syrup. I probably am just worrying to much!! |
They tend to give dogs dramamine for motion sickness, but I know that with dogs that are really small, you definitely need to ask your vet because of the dosage. Plus, your dog is only 4 months old...that's such a baby! I got Archie when he was about that age. He hated the car too, but we just tried to socialize him and take him out for little walks, then big walks, then small car rides, and longer ones. 4 months is a small baby. It takes time. Just keep taking your dog out for little walks and get her used to people, other dogs, and general stuff. |
Im so sorry that Daisy got car sick. I guess to get her use it you can take her out in short car rides. If she is just tired I guess she is ok, but if she is lethargic and not like herself watch her and if necessary take her to the vet. If you gave her nutrical I hope she is ok now. |
Aw, I feel for you!!! She-ra is almost 3 and she STILL gets sick!!! Harley and Missy could bounce all over the car, but she hunkers in the floorboard!! |
rosie gets car sick, iv even got her a car seat so she can look out the window, has made no difference, i take her out every day in the car and most the time she ends up being sick, once we arrive and she gets out the car she fine so i travel with lots of puppy pads to put in the bottom of her car seat and baby wipes to wipe her face when she is sick. wendy and rosie :rose: :yorkiesar |
