Lisa, I'm so glad that Piccolo has made a recovery! I had no idea she went through all of that. She is absolutely beautiful! It's amazing that her hair all grew back so beautifully. I hope this is never a problem again. Thank you for sharing this information with us. You are so right, it really could help someday! Tammy |
Lisa, Oh poor little Piccolo, I am so sad that she had to go through that! She sure is looking good now, but what a nasty thing to have happened. I am glad that they are able to test her blood before vaccinating her again. Does she have a low Immune system? I know this is way different but my second son Kennedy was born with a Primary Immune Defect that went un detected till he was 9 months old. He was so sick and he almost died on us a few times till properly diagnosis was made and he was started up on monthly Gamma Globulin IV treatments . What a difference it made in my baby! Because of how sick he was his Ped GI advised us not to get him vaccinated. This ended up being the best thing for my son because once he was found to have a Primary Immune Defect we were told if we would of gotten him vaccinated it possibly could of killed him or he would of gotten Polio ( at the time he was a baby Polio vaccine was a live virus liquid they gave oral) His Ped Immunologist said He cannot get any Live virus vaccines and also the ones he has do not stay in his body so he has to get his blood tested every so often and get revaccinated when the levels start to drop. For his safety non of our other 3 kids can have live virus vaccines until they are older and no longer living in the same house as Kennedy. Sorry it is kind of off topic but You think that you are doing the best possible for Piccolo and she ended up having a reaction to the stuff that was supposed to be helping her. I feel all those shots are un called for and that they should check the animals blood to make sure the vaccination is actually in need to be given! Best wished to little Piccolo and I hope that she is all better for good! |

Thank you Tammy, Brandy, SexyJessi, and KathyinCali for your words of encouragement. I am so proud of Piccolo's recovery. :D Brandy - You asked if Piccolo has a low immune system, now. Probably, yes. She can be around known dogs, but I do keep her away from dogs and owners I do not know. She does not have anything contagious, but I do not want her to catch anything like Kennel Cough. I am sorry about your son, Kennedy, but happy to hear he is doing so well. |
What a time you both went through. I'm so glad she is now doing good. She looks beautiful! Thank you for sharing her story so that we can all learn:hug:. Hugs to Piccolo!! |

vasculitis Thank you so much for posting this info. I am new to this forum and I am so glad I found this info. My tiny little Bella, 4.5 lbs, has scabs on her ear tips, paw pads, nose and left eye. The vet is treating her with Clavamox and an ointment. I do not see improvement yet but I am going to suggest the meds your beautiful little girl was on, and a biopsy. |
Wow, I had no idea they could have such a delayed reaction. Thanks for the information, I am gald you furbaby is doing better, she is adorable |

Just wanted to let you know that Piccolo was given all kinds of medicine, like Clavamox, before she was diagnosed correctly. She also had sores on her paw pads and nose, which I did not even mention in the first post. The Vet Dermatologist was the doctor that figured this out. I don't think this is a common, so your regular vet might not be familiar with this auto-immune disease. Please feel free to leave me a message on my page. I'll be glad to pass on any information I learned, in the past year, with you. Good luck and bless you. |
