Now what?? Ranger doesn't like his Wellness anymore... Hey all... I have been feeding Ranger Wellness Superfive Chicken and while he will still eat it, I feel awful because he kind of just eats, he doesn't dive in like he used to. I think it is partially because the kibbles are kind of big, and I don't think he's crazy about the flavor. I know Wellness just came out with a small breed formula but the first ingredient is turkey (which is good) but I think it was the turkey in the Innova that kept upsetting his tummy. I would prefer not to do the raw or very high protien diet, but need some suggestions. Solid Gold he has eaten and loved (wee bit). I just heard Canidae changed their formulas and is now manufactured at Diammond?? I will not purchase food manufactured there. Any ideas for us??????? Thanks in advance... |
I think Solid Gold is made at Diamond also: Diamond Pet Foods : Vet Notes : Dogs |
Well crap.... what do you think? You just homecook don't you? |

Yes, I homecook 100%. Besides, a Petco warehouse was just raided for unsanitary conditions. So even if the factory is good, is the warehouse for the store you're buying it from. It has gotten to the point with all of these blatant quality control issues that I hesitate to recommend any of it. |

I will not purchase from Petco or Petsmart. I purchase from a locally owned holistic (sp) pet food store. I know homecooking is good but it just doesn't fit our lifestyle, and I have two BIG dogs who I would never be able to cook for! We can barely cook for ourselves 5 nights a week. Makes me feel like a bad mommy :( |

If I had a big dog, I don't think I could either. But because I only have one small dog and cook a couple times a month it works out well for us. If I had to feed kibble, right now I would probably go with California Natural but I would not be happy about it. |
I think I tried the CN chicken and he didn't like it... they do have a salmon and sweet potato formula, he may like that. I had our lab with horrific food allergies on that, but it wasn't working out as he was still allergic to some of the ingredients. I hate the feeling of just not knowing what to do... I appreciate your input. |
Has anyone tried Orijen? I have had a lot of luck with picky eaters on Orijen and its really healthy. I trust the manufacterer, too, as much as any manufactuerer can be trusted. Contact Orijen as they sell 'tester' packs! Another great option for picky eaters is trying to mash in some canned or fresh green tripe if you can get it. Dogs LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Its instinctual for them to eat and keeps it interesting. I thrown in a little a few times a week to keep them on their toes, plus its SUPER healthy. I like the canned brand Tripett. If you google it, its pretty easy to find! Good luck! |

Maybe switch the flavor. They have so many different kinds of Wellness....what about the lamb flavor or something? Mine is on the Adult Lamb and loves it, even though chicken is his favorite treat. Don't give up on it yet, it is a great food. Your guy may just be tired of the same thing day-in day-out. After all, we don't like to always it the same thing every meal. |
