Wellness VS Solid Gold!! Someone help please!! Tinkerbell and my maltese are both currently on Wellness, Fish and sweet potatoes, which they love they've been on it for about 8-10 months, but I just got a sample of Solid Gold Wee Bits(Bison and Salmon) and Tinkerbell ate it right up and wanted more :D......................Is it ok to swicth them to Solid or should I keep them on the current one?? SHe went Crazy for the Solid Gold:rolleyes: Which one is better or are they about the same:confused::confused: |
They are both good foods but, I would recommend the Wellness over the Solid Gold. Franklin and Maggie were on Solid Gold before we switched to Wellness and it did not sit well with them. They ate it all right but it gave them soft, smelly stools. It was HORRIBLE. I personally think that Wellness foods are much better quality. Switching foods for variety can be good for them though! Mine are on Wellness Core and I will probably rotate the Original and Ocean formulas every bag. Taste of the Wild was also highly recommended to me so if mine like that I will add that to our rotation. |
I have never given my babies Solid Gold, but they sure do love Wellness! ;) They are both on Wellness Core (I rotate between this and NV Raw) and they do very well on it and it is one of the few dry kibbles that my Stedman will actually eat as he is an EXTREMELY picky eater. I would stick with the Wellness - it's an EXCELLENT food  |

I have been searching for a good food for them and have contacted several companies (that were recommended to me here) for samples. I have been feeling them Yorkie dry also. They seem to like both of these products. From what I am seeing here.. the Wellness is the best for Yorkies? Or the NV raw? |

Raw feeders usually do NV raw or a prey model diet. Homecookers homecook. Grain free feeders go with Evo or I think Wellness Core. People who feed kibble with moderate amounts of protein go with Canidae, Wellness, Solid Gold, Innova, Natual Balance, Merrick... To the Original Poster: Because I strongly oppose the use of garlic in dog food, I would probably go with Solid Gold but neither food would be my first choice. If you are going to feed a food with garlic, Ellie's nutritionists recommends checking RBCs or finding a different food. |

Thank you for the information. That gives me a good idea of where to start. |
Thank u for posting this ques about Wellness. Bella is currently on Wellness Fish/SwPot. She eats it, but doesn't get excited about it. From everything I've read, it's really good for her tho. The only thing that bothers me is the kibble is so large with this one. Is the kibble alot smaller with the Wellness Core? |

Tobey has always been SUPER picky. He has been eating Solid Gold Wee bits for probably a good 9 months (he's a year and a half). at first he was nuts for it, but just in the last week I got a sample of Fromm Surf and Turf which is a grain free kibble and he acts like he can't get enough so I bought some and am going to feed both for awhile i think. I will feed him whatever is good quality and what he will eat because I feel like he is so skinny!~ But I think that solid Gold wee bits is a good food and it was more convienient for me because they sell it at Petco and it is hard to get to a specialty petstore where I live. |

Darwin is on Wellness puppy, he has been on it for about 2 weeks. Does anyone have issues with Wellness food and soft poop? Darwin's poop is usually firm, but every couple of days, he'll have softer poop, not diarreah, but definitely soft and lighter colored. Any ideas on why this may be? I don't think his tummy feels bad b/c he still eats very enthusiastically, but I am just wondering why the poop is inconsistent? |
I bought solid gold last week because I missed store hours at the store I usually purchase from and my baby became obsessed with wee bits in 24 hours. I had to hide the bag because she is constantly barking and whining looking up at it. The guy in Petco said it was a grain free, which it wasn't, so now she really can't eat it. I was gonna try the Merricks sample my store has but now it just fear thats too much switching up for her at the moment, she is still on the Orijen which I have no complaints with.:) |
