Is My Yorkie Overweight? Hi everybody! So I have an almost 6 month old baby boy (will be six months on the 13th) and he is 8.8lbs. We took him to the vet today to get his rabies and the vet did not say anything about him being overweight. He doesn't look it, he looks healthy, but I've been reading about Yorkie's standard weight and it is commonly said to be 7lbs. Everytime we see another Yorkie they look so much smaller and we just always assumed that they were "teacups" even though they dont really exist. He also eats less than what is suggested on the bag and what I've been told to feed him. If anybody has any feedback I would really appreciate it. :animal-pa |
As long as your boy is healthy, and active then it should be fine. A lot of YT members have a Yorkie that is over 7lbs. < it is not rare. :aimeeyork I have noticed that Yt people have very small. or very big yorkies, as long as there are no health issues then he is okay:aimeeyork |
The most important thing is that you have a healthy boy . |
He's just a big boy. My babies are 6, 7 & 11 lbs and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love all my babies but my big girl is such a cuddle bug (when she wants to be). She feels like a big teddy bear and I love it. |
my girl just turned 6 months and she is just over 8 lbs. She is still much smaller than EVERY other dog we pass on the street (and smaller than my 10 lb. cat!):p As long as your pup still has a clearly visible "waistline", I'd say he's not overweight! |
