pieces of liver my dad frequently buys liver from the meat store and he eats some of it.. but the rest of the family is not too fond of it.. i mean i eat some of it and my mom eats some of it.. but there's always so much left over.. usually we just give it all to my dad.. but this time my mom and i tried something new... we cut up the liver into treat size pieces and we dried them out overnight.. Chippy and Rocky love them even when they are not dried but we thought they ate them too fast so the drying up was to make it last longer.. and it does.. it keeps them occupied for about 15 seconds longer because they have to chew the treat a little longer.. haha.. keep in mind it is fresh boiled liver.. is this okay for our babies? i'm not sure if it's actually good for them.. i know i've seen freeze dried liver treats at the pet store and on animal planet i've seen that lady on "it's me or the dog" make dog treats with liver.. but i'm not too sure.. just thought i'd ask.. my Chippy is whining for another liver treat as we speak.. he's so spoiled!! |
There shouldn't be a problem. you could look online and prob find some liver treat recipes for something different as well. You might want to try a dehydrator as well. |
my dad used to get a cow tounge every now and then. mom would boil it and he would slice it up for sandwiches. yuck!!! ever open your fridge and have a cow tounge on a platter on the top shelf, yummy. (great for dieting though) |
Gizmo loves fresh cooked liver...well, anything with liver really. I've heard it can be a little rich for them, so used moderately, it's fine for them. |

i figured it would be better in moderation though. i'm hoping that it's better than some of the regular treats you can find in the stores?? |
Definitely better than store bought treats. :) |

I wouldn't reccomend frying them but if you boil it then cut it up in small pieces then dehydrate them it should be ok. Check on the internet and you should be able to find recipes for liver treats. |
