Dog park behavior My Chloe, acts like a bully sometimes at the dog park. She will go up and start picking on one dog and start wrestling and biting their ears. I have to seperate her for a few minutes and then when she calms down, she'll get out and start running with the others and playing. It's funny when we go again the next day, the dog she was wrestling with will avoid her completely. Does anyone else have that problem? She is 8 lbs and usually the smallest one there. How do you keep her calm without, taking her lively spirit away?[/FONT] |
Carry a soda can with some pennies inside of it. When she gets too rough, shake the can and tell her no. Of course, it will also startle the other dog, but it will help to keep her grounded. also, welcome to Yorkie Talk! |

Is Chloe still a puppy? If so it's probably not aggressive behavior as much as just play. Franklin and Maggie play so hard sometimes I swear they're going to rip each others ears off. |
thanks, I'll try that. There is so much information here, I just love it. |
She's a year and 2 mo. I was thinking maybe she needs another yorkie in the house, so she will have someone to play with. |
The pennies in the can always stop Deegan from doing what he's not supposed to. It's sad to see his little face when I shake it cause you can see that he doesn't like it - even cowards a bit, but it seems to be the most effective way. |
That's funny, my Yorkie is the exact opposite! He wants nothing to do w/ the other dogs, just wants me to hold him. Just keep on her about being nice and saying "NO" when she's like that. The Dog Whisperer is good about fixing bullying dogs. |
I also think the Dog Whisper is a good place to get ideals how to deal with problems we have. That its not the dog but rather us that give out the wrong vibes and we need to be retrained. It works and some of the ideals about a barking dog we have used and it does work. I hope you get lots of ideals and find something you really can use. The park is a good place to take your dogs and have fun when you don't have a large yard. |
