Cross post about Growth... Ok, so I know that the growth chart is just a guide...but I am a little concerned. When we got Becks a little over 6 weeks ago, he was 2.2 lbs at 13 weeks. According to the chart he was on target for about 4-4 1/2lbs. Today, he only weighs 2.6lbs (chart predicting an adult weight of 3-3 1/2lbs.) Now, I know that a 1lb difference in the adult weight is not a big deal (although we were more comfortable with the bigger size)...what really concerns me is that he has only gained 4 ounces in 6 weeks. According to the chart, he should have gained 10 more ounces than he has. Is this something that I should ask the vet about? We see a vet on base for his shots, but for anything else we take him in town. Should I call and ask the town vet? I am not normally such a worry wart...but our last yorkie was a very healthy 8lbs...I never had to worry about him :) |

Does your baby seem healthy? Does he have a good appetite and everything? Emma was only 2.9 lbs at 6-7 months of age, and we thought she would probably level out at around 3.5 lbs. Well, she had a bit of a growth spurt and is now just over 4 lbs at 2 yrs old and the perfect weight for her size. They will surprise you :) Sometimes they grow steadily over time and some have growth spurts later on. |
