FirstMate dog food Does anyone have opinions on this food? I think I'm going to be switching Layla from Orijen... I know it's a great food but I think I need to put her on something more simplified because she is STILL chewing her feet. I want to know if it's something still in her diet that's causing it. Anyway, I was thinking about trying the Fish and Potato. It's sold at the little store I get Orijen from and they're really experienced with all kinds of animal health stuff so I'm assuming they've done their homework on it. Has anyone else here tried it? Welcome to FirstMate Pet Foods! |
I've never heard of any of the foods mentioned here. Am I missing something? I feed Iams and Emma does great on it. |
A lot of people here have strong opinions about grocery store brand foods... If you do a search you will find some information! |
I'd STRONGLY recommend against this food It is mostly grain (filler) which is hard to digest and commonly causes allergies and is not nutritional. It's also very low in protein and contains an inadequate amount of fat. I'd search these forums if I were you to find some recommendations. There are a lot of them for high-quality foods. Best regards, Jade |
Really? This is the ingredient list for fish and potato... Potato flakes, Herring meal, Chicken fat, Beet pulp, Fish oil, Dicalcium phosphate, Choline Chloride, Salt, Sorbic acid (used as preservative). |

Thanks for the info! These are the foods I will be choosing from: Critters - Products - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan I'm not so into the raw food because I have 2 roommates and NO freezer space, plus we travel a lot so I'd like kibble that's easy to just pack up and take with me. I tried looking into Wellness but the website doesn't seem to be working for me! |
Don't know why I didn't think to post this one earlier... This is a recent thread about food. I had a couple of posts on it, but there are other suggestions about good food in the thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ml#post2079996 |
