Daisy gained alot of weight eating envo Has anyone else had this problem with this food, I know it is a hight protein food but I didn't think she was going to gain that much weight |
Did you mean Evo? Protein shouldn't add much weight - are you feeding according to the packages specs? They often recommend feeding more then necessary... |
yea sorry I mean EVO I use to free feed her but now I only feed her twice a day |

You'll need to cut out treats if she is overweight. Its best to check with your vet regarding the ideal weight for your dog. I'd schedule an appointment ASAP. |
I haven't taken her to the Vet yet but I will, I just went to my yorkie meet and nobody seem to think she was that bad. But I'm still going to take her for a check up. |

1 Attachment(s) You should be able to feel your pup's ribs by lightly running your hands over her sides and when looking at her from above there should be a 'pinch' in after her ribcage. I suggest checking this at bathtime because their coats make it nearly impossible to see. |

If you can't feel her ribs, its definitely time to lose a few ounces ;) Green beans are great and make sure you limit treats. The easiest way to lose weight is less food and exercise! Find a dog park you can take her too and let her run around or get her a little backpack and fill it with some change so on her walks, she is doing 'extra' work. Swimming is also a great activity for weight loss. Many cities have dog friendly pools and beaches now, get her a little life jacket and she'll figure out how to doggie paddle! You can portion out her daily food and then, from her daily portion, grab some of the kibble to use as treats. This way, you know exactly how much she is eating. Extra weight is super unhealthy. It leads to coronary disease, joint issues and more. Its really important to slim her down ASAP! |
Evo has replaced the carbs with an excessive amount of fat. Some Yorkies even get GI upset from this food. I would switch because pancreatitis is a concern. |
I have heard the same complaint from several people who feed Evo. The portion guideline is smaller than most kibble..did you read it? I fed Lady Evo for awhile and used the lowest (less active) amount recommended. |
Ew, I didn't know that about Evo. I am hearing really good things about Ziwi Peak, though! |

The canned is about 36%. Innova canned is high in fat also. |
