Weight after spayed? Now Tink has been spayed (she is 6mths old) when we went to pick her up we saw the nurse and she said to keep a check on her weight as she might put on weight? Is this right? Do I carry on with normal deit and treats? I did not realise she might put weight on. I will check it all out when I next see the vet, but not sure when this will be, as when she has her stitches out in 7 days time, she will see the nurse again. Thank you for any input. Lesley and Tink (who is walking about with a lampshade on her head and feeling very fed up with it!) |
They can put on weight after being spayed. Ellie's nutritionist told me Ellie's food would need to be cut down after it. It wasn't true in Ellie's case (she is eating lots and is still skinny) but some dogs do gain. |
Mine have all gained weight after spaying, but I didn't get down their food. I am trying now to feed a little less. |
I had Heidi spayed at one year old. She was just over 3 pounds then. Now, 1 1/2 years later, she weighs just over 4 pounds. I don't worry about the weight so much because she is more 'filled out' than fat. I feed her the same as I do my 3 pound male and am scared to feed her less. I do watch her though and would do something about her diet if she started to appear 'fat'. |
Mine are spayed and they never gained an ounce . I have to say they are very active little ones . |
Jewels gained 2 lbs after her spay but I think that was because she was still growing and not because of her spay. She is not overweight and seems to be perfect size for her frame |
Some dogs do gain. Lulu had gained a few ounces and finally hit three pounds. My guess is Zoey will put on a few ounces too. You just need to be sure to not over feed them. |
I guess it depends on the dog. London just got spayed and her tummy seems a little more full recently but i weighed her and she weighs the same as before the spay. She is very active, always up to no good, loves being chased and doesnt eat THAT much so i think thats good..i hope she doesnt gain, her tiny knees cant handle the weight |
