neutered my baby was neutered yesterday. he slept most of the day which is okay then he started feeling unconfortable i guess bc he kept wyning until i picked him um and layed in bed with him where he slept some more. doesn anybody have any suggestions of things i should do to make this experience better for him? oh yea and he has to wear that cone/ lamp looking thing around his neck.:( |
Hi welcome to YT. Did your vet give you any pain meds for him. The best thing you can do is let him rest. Also when picking him up be sure to support his back legs. That way there is no strain and they legs are not dangling and pulling on his sutures. |

He will be find the day after for the most part. I know he will surely hate that e-collar. |
Aww, poor baby:( When Kalani was neutered I got him one of those inflatable collars from Petco and he rested his head on it like a little pillow - seemed a lot more comfortable than those cone things. He was out of it for a little over a day and just wanted to be held so I carried him around in a sling carrier. The second day he was just about back to normal:D |
You could get him some of the "onesies" and get the collar off him. I got some for Madison and they work really great so they can't lick. You need to either take it off or roll the bottom part of it up when they need to go potty, but they really do work great. There's a couple of threads about them...if you get some, put it on so that what would be the front on a baby, is the back on your dog. That way, their tail will fit better thru the snaps when you just snap the two outer snaps. Madison just got done on the 10th and he was back to normal the next morning and he really didn't lick the area much. He didn't have external sutures though. Good luck to the little one......they heal so quickly! |
