What Type of Flea Ttmt Do You Use? For the past few years we have used Ortho Max on our yard and Frontline Plus on our pets. We use Advantage on our cat. For the past few months we've had fleas anyway so when I was at the vet this week I asked them their opinion. They said the fleas in our area have built up a resistance to the products we use. As far as I know Frontline is the only flea product considered "safe" for pregnant and nursing dogs. What products do you guys use? I'm thinking of Diatomaceous Earth and Comfortis but that still doesn't answer the problem of pregnant and nursing dogs. Any opinions? |
To date we have been very fortunate with our current dogs and have only had to administer treatment once. In that case, we used Frontline and only applied it to ONE of the dogs and it took care of the problem on all 3. (I have heard several similar claims.) I have seen many suggest bathing the dog using a drop or two of Dawn dish detergent. I would *think* this would be a safe method for an expecting mommy...maybe that coupled with spraying or treating your home and yard would do the trick...? |
No chemicals thats for sure. Mine get Interceptor and thats it. I am scared to death of all these poisons they are putting in our babies. I use a Holistic spray, and I even put Avon's Skin So Soft on them. |
I used Dawn the other day and it worked great but within 48 hrs everyone had fleas again. I need to figure out something for the yard. |
Hi, I used to use Frontline and it worked for a while but then didn't do so well. I tried the drops and the spray both. My vet recommended Advantage and I really like it so far. Whitney |
Right now we use Frontline Plus but I think I'm going to buy the stuff for this "recipe" I found in Modern Dog magazine. Here's the thread I posted a while back: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...revention.html |
