Eating poo.. I think Ramsey is eating his poop (or that is what it smells like). Yesterday He threw up on the couch (right beside me while I was eating) He didn't give me a warning or anything.. But I had to clean it quick because it was my mom’s brand new living room suite. It smelled awful (like poop). So I have came to the conclusion that is what he is doing. Does anyone think this could be harmful to him? If so is there a way to correct it? |
Pet stores sell something called Deter. It's a pill you feed your pup once a day. It's supposed to make the poo taste bad :D Watch him closely and clean up his poo as soon as he's finished. |
Yeah a petstore by me sells a powder call "Don't eat poop", I used it b/c Daisy loved goose poop (yucky) and it really worked! |
You would think it already smells and taste bad enough.. I will have to try that out! |

My dogs have never done this (thank god) so I don't know what to do except I did see a product in a pet supplies store that you put in your dogs food and it makes the poop taste bad. |
I am just about to give up on Roxy and TJ. They are both poop eaters (at least when then can...) I tried forbid for 7 days and didn't have much success. I tried the pineapples in their food and again nothing but pineapples in their poop (yum, j/k). Now I have moved on to the meat tenderizer idea. Actually, upon reading a few other threads here YT, it was suggested to use ACCENT and not a meat tenderizer b/c ACCENT is the key ingredient in the meat tenderizer. So far I am having 50% luck with it. There has been a decent amount of poop left for me this past week, I'd say about 50% but they are still eating it. And I know it is TJ's poop they are eating. I don't think he is eating enough of his food that I put the ACCENT on for it to be really effecting the poop taste/smell. Roxy's poop, no one is really touching! So, I am going to give it one more week. I just hate giving them ACCENT (I would never use it on my food so it is killing me every time I sprinkle it on their food!) But I have to try... |
I am going through this with Lily Mae my Maltipoo... she enjoys eating her poop, vomit, and pee... i spoke to the vet and she told me to try the Accent Meat Tenderizer but its not helping.. I am getting frustrated because she is also using the bothroom wherever she wants too, and not on her pad!! |
i've tried deter on my other yorkie and it seemed to help a lot. My Maltese is also a Poo eater and I don't think the Deter is working one bit. I've heard that Pinapple will help in making the poo taste awful (like it doesn't already?) and it's worth a try.. it's not harmful at all none the least. :) |
I had two poop eaters. I tried everything, even the Foster and Smith Double Strength Deter, nothing worked. What finally did seem to do the trick is to overfeed them for a little while. I made their food as appetizing as possible so that they ate a lot of it, they weren't hungry anymore for poo. They quickly lost interest, and I slowly decreased the amount of food. Took about 2 weeks, but they haven't been snacking and sampling for quite a while. Don't know why this worked, but it did. |
I cant over feed Ramsey because he has an endless stomach.... He will eat for days and not get full... I'm going to try the accent meat tend. I hope it works! |
When my sisters puppy was eating his poop, her vet told her was deficient in something so his body was craving something, kinda how they say children and pregnant women can crave dirt. The vet gave her some special vitamins and they helped. He never ate it again. |
I've heard that if your dog eats poo it's because they are lacking something in their diet. I know this sounds weird. Chloe did this. I switched her dog food to Royal Canin and she hasn't even thought of it sense (I don't know if this is coincidence or not-Royal Canin is a MUCH better brand than what I was using-Eukanuba). |
Ive Had That Problem Before :( . And The Vet Told Me To Use Meat Tenderizer And It Really Works ;) |
Thankfully I haven't had to go through this ordeal. Genie hates poop. There is no way she will come near her own poop or any other animals poop. |
