Green eye goop- please help! Oh my girl has allergies! But usually her eyes water and in the morning she has a bit of clear goop in her eyes but we wipe it away and it's gone. but today she has this light green non-clear stuff in her one eye. Any one know what it might be? Layla says thanks :p |
my guess would be pollen or possible infection. |
it is also clearly watering more than the other one. Should i wait it out or take her in do you think? I am managing her allergies quite well on my own and don't want her to be given steriods for the allergies but i do want her to get help if she has an eye infection. |
Sounds like conjunctivitis aka pink eye. The vet can give you drops. |
Thanks everyone. I called and they think it is probably just allergies but since she is scratching at her eyes they want to see her to make sure she hasn't done any damage. We have an appointment BRIGHT and EARLY Thursday morning :) |
Yep, green almost always = infection. Every darn time for me with my guys. Usually means eye ointment for 10-14 days. Hope Layla feels better soon, kisses to her. :) |

eye ointment was awful for us. romeo had a chemical burn on his eye and applying the stuff was a chore. he would wipe it out and rub his eyes. |
Try a nice warm compress to help comfort and loosen up the goop. |
It sounds like an infection. Is the white of her eye pink? |

You might want to limit other animals' exposure to her until you get the clear from the vet that it isn't contagious (some cases are and some aren't, I believe...because it could be virus or bacterial). Ellie's had it before and she learned what eye drops were and how to squint to make it miserable for me. |
oh my poor sweet girl. She woke up this mornign with her eye crusted shut (gross.. i know) her eye is a wee bit swollen and red. We called our vet and she isn't in today but the receptionist told us we needed to be seen today so we made an appointment with another vet who is close by and will be going at 4:45.. i feel so bad for her... it is obviously sore. |
Awww poor baby! I don't have any advice but I hope she feels better soon. Til then give her lots of hugs and puppy kisses from me and Jamie. |
awww, that poor baby, i hope she feels better soon... |
