I didn't see how many feedings a day you are giving Lulu. My Gracie is about 10 months old and was getting 2 feedings a day and wolfing it down. All of a sudden about 2 weeks ago she wouldn't touch her AM feeding. When she won't eat it I put the dish up and she has to wait until her next feeding. Right now she's getting her full daily amount in the PM only and eats the entire amount. Go figure...maybe it's just her bodies way of adjusting towards adulthood. |
When I first brought Dakota home last feb. she would barely eat. So like some of you said above, I fed her a little "people" food (chicken, beef, ect.) because I was worried she wasn't getting enough. I finally had to be "tough" and only give her “her” food at meal times. She did start eating shortly after that, but not as regularly as I would have liked. She would often skip a meal, and then act like she was starving the next, but only eat about half her food. The breeder had her on eukanuba, so we switched off of that to blue buffalo, but she wouldn't eat it, our vet recommended royal canin, so we tried it. She seemed to like it for a while, but had recently stopped eating it again. I just tried blue buffalo again and she loves it. She is eating great now. However she is still VERY picky with her treats. The only dry treat she will take and eat right away is petco's little pretzel treats off their "treat bar". |

Maybe you should try Nature's Variety raw. If after having their raw and they seem hungry still, I give them a little grain free kibble. They love the raw, just as soon as you put it down...it's gone! You'll find a lot of people on here only feed raw. Read up on it and see what you think about it. |
picky pup Ok, I feel so much better now! Lucas has decided that "anything" is better than whatever is in his bowl--he'll wait forever to get food from my husband while we're eating, and if that fails, he tumbles the garbage can to find what he can chomp on from there (yum yum---aluminum foil! ) I've also tried dry and wet and mixing them and adding a little milk (he loves milk) and adding a little people food to the top and...nothing. I think I'll look into a better brand of food and try some of the ideas here. And be sure to put all garbage out of reach each evening! :sickie: |

LOL Callie does the same thing, it's the goofiest thing, I even have a placemat down under her food and water bowls, but she has to be on carpet to eat. Weird pup. I am having major issues with her eating right now and it's driving me crazy. Like some of you said, if it's the first time with the food, she LOVES it, then the next day she sniffs it and walks away. What the heck pup! :confused:Then she is all interested in the food I am eating. Frustrated! |
Dolly too is a very very picky eater. We've tried every high end dog food, we can find. She will taste it if it smells different..but as far as eating a serving, forget it, she turns her nose up, and walks away. I have had her to the vet several times, near hypoglycema. as bad as he hated to do it, he told me to boil her chicken, feed it to her once a day about 3 oz. and the rest is her dog food. We now have her on the Royal Canin its the only one she has anything to do with, but still, she doesn't eat enough to satisfy me, so we give her sugar water and nutrical once a day too. I work from home, so I am able to keep a close eye on her. She is slowly but surely starting to eat more of her dry food, but I still worry about her. I just don't feel she is getting enough. |
Keoki is VERY picky- I have changed his food about 5 times in the 5 months that I have had him and now he LOVES Timberwolf- it's organic and great and the only food I do not have to hand feed him because he likes it so much but I will also boil organic chicken breasst and put a few pieces in with the kibble from time to time- I would just try and see what works for her but if she is not eating more than likely she does not like her food. |
