To Chip or Not to Chip? which company is best? Hello everyone, My boy is being neutered next week and I have been wondering whether to microchip him or not? It is really worth it? Is it safe? Side effects? the chip company would be Home Again. Would appreciate experience moms/dads responses and experiences. My dog trainer says its really not worth it since a dog stealer would not take a dog to a legitimate vet. Also will his markings get better and barking?!:(:( He has failed housebreaking on his pee pee part. He just turned 2 yrs old. Training him has been exhaustive, miserable, testing on my part, and some days darn right aggravating. But I still love him when he greets me with his happy jumping and puppy kisses when I get home. He still has separation anxiety when i leave. Your response would be greatly helpful for me and my boy. Maria:):( |
I have Home Again microchips on 2 of my dogs. I would recommend microchipping because if you dog gets out and the SPCA comes and picks them up they will scan them. Also, if someone does steal your dog to sell them, most likely the new owners will take him/her to the vet and hopefully they will scan them also. I figure that it is a very cheap way to have a little more security. I would recommend it. |

while your trainer is right, what if a nice person finds your dog and bring them to the vet? These people do exists :p Also if it is the other way and someone steals your dog.. you may have NO other way to prove he is yours (should you think you've found him) I felt it was a small fee for piece of mind... God forbid Layla go missing I know i've done everything i can to get her home. |
All my animals are and always will be chipped. If rather pay the 20 or so a pop then know I did everything I could to make sure they came home. |
