Wholistic Pet Diatomaceous Earth Is this a product good to use for ticks? Does anyone know anything about it? A friend of mine told me about it, but I didn't know anything regarding it. Some sites list is as being used for fleas, others as a natural dewormer, etc...... I am always looking for natural items for the little ones..... Anyway helpful information would be greatly appreciated! THANKS! |
Bumping this thread for you. Hope you get some answers. |
I don't know about the Wholistic Pet Diatomaceous Earth but I do use diatomaceous earth in the filter of my pool. it is a very very fine, almost powder like product and should not be inhaled. I have read where using it in your yard will cut down on the fleas. The way it works is that the newly hatched fleas actually get "cut" on the diatomaceous earth and die. I have not tried it for that purpose but did read up on it when I was looking for a way to control the flea problem we had. So I don't know if the product you are asking about is exactly the same product I am.:confused: |
The kind you use for a pool is NOT the kind you use for pets!! I use the Diatomaceous Earth for my chickens for fleas and mites but I haven't used it on my dogs. You must use the food grade one for pets! Maybe others that have more experience will post. |
Thanks everyone! We don't have fleas, but I thought my friend said it can be used on your yard for ticks? Is that not true? Also, why is it used in the pool filter? Our pool place never mentioned it to us....should I use it there and what is the benefit of it? |
bump.... sorry idk |

We use the food grade one to deworm and treat the yard for ticks. It can also be used directly, rubbed into their fur to rid of fleas if badly infested. |

That is what I am looking for, but I didn't read anything about ticks, just fleas..and since (knock on wood) we have never had a problem w/ fleas, I didn't know if it would be worth it to try for ticks (since I couldn't find anything about using it for ticks)!!!! That is good to know. I read that it can be used for fleas and as a natural dewormer...anything else it is good for? |

I have only used it as an ant killer. I used to have a really bad ant problem in a house I lived in and one of my roommates was against pesticides and only used organic products...So we used this and it worked great at repelling ants. |
