Nervous about spaying....need some insight I am making the decision to spay my girl later on. (Shes just 10 weeks now.) My friend got a pomeranian and got her spayed. Her heart stopped during surgery. It was so sad. I have also heard other horror stories from people I know, and maybe a few here. Is this a common thing for little ones? My male doxie is 7 years old and in tact, which is why Im making the decision. I dont want them to breed. I've considered neutering him, but also I have heard that spaying a girl has health benefits. Any advice or insight would be helpful in my decision. (I plan to never breed her.) |
It does have health benefits, and it also makes them better pets. I was scared to but Lily was fine. Make sure you have blood work done before the spay and it should catch any issues like liver problems that could complicate the spay. |
While I am a firm believer in spay and neutering pets, there are always risks involved. Here is a very interesting article on the pros and cons of spaying and neutering. I feel that with females especially it is important to have them spayed but I am not an advocate of early spaying, but that is JMHO. http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongT...uterInDogs.pdf |
