Just had a HUGE scare- lessons learned Wow my body is still shaking. I gave Layla a pill (homeopathic) for her allergies. Today has been a rough allergy day and so this was her second one of the day. When i give her pills i lay her on her back and open her mouth and put it at the back of the throat, she swallows and then she gets a treat. Well today it went down the wrong tube and she couldn't breathe. She was trying to work it out and i remembered reading about the Heimlich and was able to help force it out. I want to say a HUGE thank you to the person who posted that and remind you to give your yorkies pills INSIDE of something (pill pocket, cheese) to ensure it is going down the RIGHT tube! I was so scared but was able to recognize she wasn't getting air.. however without that thread i wouldn't have known what to do. i'm so happy i just gave her a new toy that i was saving.. she is very happy too. Please learn from our close call. |
Oh Marci I am so sorry to hear about this! Thank God Layla is ok and :bravo: to you for your quick thinking! Way to go girl - you saved her! I always give Tatum her allergy pill in either a tiny piece of cheese or her raw food (hidden) and she doesn't even know that it's in either one and gobbles it right down :) Give sweet little Layla a big hug for me...that darling little angel! |
I'm so sorry to hear this happened to Layla, but Thank You so much for posting this today!! I just started doing this just yesterday because Bella hates pills so much.....she was getting so smart with "anything" pill pockets, cheese, etc that I tried. So I did this too, but not anymore! ! ! I'm really happy that Layla is ok, but a scary time it was. |
OMG I'm so happy to hear that all is well and you were able to get that pill up and out:eek: How scary:cry:!!!!! YT has saved my kids' lives more times than I can count:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: |

*sigh* i had to bring Lay to her sitter's tonight. I have graudation tomorrow and have to be there early so it was just easier to bring her there tonight but i'm still worried about her (she's fine.. it's me with the problem :p) but i guess if she isn't there... i won't worry as much. she was SO excited to go there tonight! |

Wow how scary! I had a similar scare the other day and it took me forever to calm down, so I know how you're feeling. I'm sooo glad she's alrite!! I'm gonna go find that thread about the Heimlich before I go to bed and read up! You just never know when something can happen. |
