Hydrotherapy? Does anyone have any experience taking their yorkie to hydrotherapy or doing at home in the tub? Thanks~ |
No, but it sounds interesting. My mom had some hydrotherapy for her knees, I think. She really liked it. |
I do not have any experience with a Yorkie and hydrotherapy. It is a good idea for lots of ailments though. The heat of warm water would be great for arthritis and also as a vasodialator to gain more blood flow and help with healing. |
I think mybabe4me did that for her baby :) You might send her a pm. |
I haven't done it myself but i watched an animal show once and they did it. I would imagine you could do it easily at home. Because they were in a large pool, they had a life jacket on the dog but I imagine in your tub at home you could just hold (hallie/simon). Is it for Simon's LP? Layla says she would be happy to stand at the other end of the tub and give simon encouragement. She isn't crazy about the tub but she would do it for him :) With soccer ball in mouth :p |
Hydrotherapy is very good exercise for joint problems. It helps strengthen the muscles and joints without putting too much pressure on them. you can fill up the tub and with a harness, suspend your yorkie in the water to let them paddle. start off slow, only a minute or two and build up the time slowly. |
Charlie has done a couple sessions in an underwater treadmill...... |
