Patella Luxation Does anyone's baby suffers Patella Luxation? My puppy is 4 months old, after i took him to the breeder, the vet told him he has Patella Luxation on his hind leg, which the groove is too shallow, the patella will slip out when the knee bends. I was disappointed because my supposedly reputable breeder failed to inform me when i got him. I don't want to return my puppy since we're already bonded. Today, we suddenly see him started limping when he was running. it went away in a minute. He wasn't in pain i think. I wonder if this condition will get any worse. Does anyone have this issue with their yorkie? I'm very worried. |
PAtella Problems [I]My Baxter has the same problem. He will be running and all of a sudden he will yelp and sit down. I took him to the vet who said that he believed his patella was loose and that maybe with time it would "tighten" up. It seems to be happening less and less the older he gets. :) |
Codie had a luxated patella - his rear left leg. He had the surgery and is better than ever! :D |
thanks for the replies. There was only 1 incident that i see my puppy limp/lifted his patella luxating leg when running. I guess i just have to monitor him more, and check with the vet again =( How old was Baxter when he first had it? when did he start getting better? As for Codie, what scale was he to determine he should have surgery? How much did it cost you? (i might need to start saving up) |

What grade does your puppy have? What have your vet suggested? Also, I would let the breeder know that your puppy has this problem. |
The vet told him it's not serious, didn't tell me a grade. I told my breeder, but she claimed she never saw any problem, and her vet never did either during check up on my puppy....*SIGH* She insist that his parents (one is a champion), has no problem either. I'm thinking about bringing him to another vet, and make sure...Thanks everyone. |
Sadie has it too. The breeder told us about if before we got her, but said it doesn't effect her at all. Today at the Vet she told us that she has grade 1, so it pops back in easily. She told us that sometimes it will go up to 3, and sometimes it stays at 1, but we dont need to worry about it now. Has anyone started out with the grade 1 and gotten to 3? |

I first noticed it when Baxter was about 4 months old. He is now 8 months old, and hasn;t had any visible problems in 2 months. I'm hoping it was "growing pains". |
